Here is Jim Walmsley a few minutes ago crossing No Hands in the lead. Word is he lost a few minutes around Pointed Rocks waiting for a bear and her cubs to clear the trail. #WS100

I’m just saying that if Walmsley keeps this up, he will be almost 70 minutes faster than Jurek ever was. We don’t put asterisks next to records because a person had a number of failed attempts. Walmsley is the superior runner and the clock will show it.
Walmsley hasn't won yet but Jurek won 7 times Western States and a couple other things too like 3x Spartathlon.
Walmsley is not in the league of Jurek, not even close.

Face it, this might be the greatest race ever in an ultra. 4 miles to go to immortality.

Reliable reports are that Jim Walmsley was delayed for about ten minutes around mile 94 or 95 by a bear with cubs along the trail. #WS100
#beargate - if he blows up and doesn't get the record (which would be unlikely) it'll definitely get blamed on the bear. And then he's the only one who saw or didn't see a bear

Oops. It looks like Walmsley did not hit the No Hands Bridge station time point.
14:19 / 98.9 = 8:41.1
How, when a high school with WiFi and hardline internet is the finish, are there no reliable finish line cameras?

Hmmm. Walmsley stop 10 minutes for bears. Then he missed a time point. And he ran 8:11/mile between 94.3 and 98.9--including the 10 minute bear stop.
