Wow 7:24 pace for that 5 mile section to the river crossing....He’s getting faster. 11:05 through 78 miles

Walmsley ~ 11:05 for 78 miles ~ 8:32 pace overall
So, 44 minutes ahead of CR?!?

At 8:31.5/mile, he would finish 100.2 in 14:14, or 32 minutes ahead of Olsen's 14:46.

Wow! Has gained 8 minutes vs the CR in the last 16 miles. 27 mins up on the pace.
Is Walmsley on the verge of achieving everything we thought he might here in 104-degree weather?

11:32 is CR pace at 78 miles (Rucky Chuck).
I sure hope he's got some pacers lined up with some solid navigating skills! He's on the verge of doing something really special.

Either that or an epic collapse. Keep watching.
Man I hope Duwalter and Bartholemew go 1-2 (either or). Those were the two I wanted to win. However have a feeling Stephanie Violett (3rd) may catch up-she’s done this race many times. Not sure how Bartholemew will fare over the last 30 miles.

I think one reason the last set of course stations are in different locations is because of Walmsley's epic 2016 course miscue.
Jim could walk the last 20 miles at 10 min pace and still set a CR at this point.

I can't tell from the photos on irunfar's twitter page if he dropped his pacer like in 2016.

Don't sleep on Gerbin, did well in the heat last year and running a smart race. I can see Lucy crumbling and Gerbin sneaking into 2.

The excitement keeps increasing.

A fast walking pace is 15 min / mile. 10 is still running / shuffling.
Walmsley ... 11:25 for 79.8 miles ... 8:35 pace

For you and me, maybe. For Jim, 10 min pace might as well be a walk.
He's through Green Gate in 11:25.
Just got back from a couple hours on the Rough trail in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky and STOKED to see Walmsley still CRUSHING it.
2.3 miles at 10 min/mile pace
then
5 miles at 7:24
then
1.8 miles at 11:06 (famous river crossing of 2016)

Olsen hit Green Gate at 11:49 in 2012. Walmsley 24 minutes ahead of him.
Olsen ran from Green Gate to Auburn Lake (5.4 mi) in 46' or 8:31 pace.
