I agree with the poster who said we should just let them compete in the "tranny olympic" of some sort. Keep them away from healthy-minded individuals.

Transgenderism is real, and it's backed by significant observational studies. Transgender brains are physically different.
However, there has to be a standard for athletic competition that eliminates the natural advantage a person who has had a male body for an entire lifetime has. Maybe it requires surgery or hormone treatment for a specified time. I'm sure there is a medical solution to this.

The solution is to let biological boys race with biological boys. It's not that hard to figure out.

People with Alzheimer's have physically different brains. So do people with depression. So regular disease and mental disease can change a brain. Heck, professional chess players have different brains. So repeatedly thinking in a particular fashion can CHANGE THE PHYSICAL STRUCTURE of your brain. This is why your argument citing these studies is bad. This is not necessarily an innate difference, and I would argue that its unlikely it is.
Gender is by definition a purely social definition. Not biology at all. Biology has influenced those social definitions. What does it mean to 'feel like a man' or 'feel like a woman'? In the day and age that men and women have the same opportunity sets and people can do pretty much as they choose. I think it is harmful to continue this transgender movement because it reinforces that there are inherent differences between the social definition of man and woman, which is what other social movements seem to want to stop.
You can be a male and like dolls, dressing up, and shopping. This doesn't mean you are a woman because you fit into stereotypes of a female. You can be a female and like sports, trash talk, and building things.
So, instead of this stupid gender debate, lets just say sex=gender and only worry about biological sex. This would make life a lot easier for everyone involved.
Men(males), Intersexes, and Women(females) can compete in the open category, and women(females) can compete in the women's category.
A 25 yr old cannot compete in a jr race because they 'feel' like they are 17.....unless they're kenyan ;)
1. The brain scans show that transgender brains have a lot of similarities with the brains of the gender a person identifies with rather than the gender they were "born with."
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/22/transgender-brain-scans-promised-study-shows-structural-differences/2. Yes, every aspect of who we are is attributable to our physical brain. But there are also physical differences between the brains of women and men, although these differences do lie on a spectrum. But it is not crazy for a person who has a brain that is much like a female brain to "feel like a female." One's brain has much more bearing on their identity than their genitals.
3. Men and women are treated differently in society. Imagine you woke up tomorrow and everything about your outward appearance made you look like a female (if you are a male). You honestly think you wouldn't notice a difference in your role in the world?
4. The distinction between "sex" and "gender" is questioned by many, and for good reason. The transgender claim is a biological claim. It is a claim that one's brain better matches a different gender than their genitals. Yes, such a person can procreate with a person who has different genitals, but we use sex and gender as identifiers in much more robust ways than "this person can procreate with these people." Having a biologically female brain is certainly a noteworthy part of a person's sex identification.

It's hard for liberals. they lack common sense like this.
Gender is by original definition a social classification of male and female. That's where we don't see eye to eye. I don't think men and women should necessarily have different stereotypes which is what gender is.
I also really don't like these brain scan studies. The brains of males and females at birth are different because of certain genes on the y-chromosome and then further changes occur with hormones. This means that the brains are different because of biology.
So if a person is a male then they will have a male brain. It is quite possible to change your physical brain structure with learning. I think it is far more likely that people have convinced themselves of being a female.
Keep in mind the variation among all brains is so high that the variation between males brain is more than the variation between the avg female and avg male. So you cannot even take brain scans at birth to determine if a child's gender.
This means that it is highly unlikely for there to be clear proof at any point in the future that transgenderism is biological.
And your point "Having a biologically female brain is certainly a noteworthy part of a person's sex identification." makes me squirm. This is the whole point of many social movements. Should I think about a female lawyer differently than a male? Sounds sexist to me... People should not think about a women differently from a man, other than if one is a possible procreation partner. The only thing that matters in the differences in females and males is the reproductive organs.
P.S. - You used my 'feel like a female' line in a serious way. I was being highly sarcastic because WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? I honestly don't understand it. I feel like a human, and if I look down and see my penis, I'm reminded "oh that's right, I'm a male!" Females can do whatever they want and so can males. Gender classification solves no issues.

By the time these young men decided to run as girls, no amount of hormone treatment would change the biological advantages already extant in those young men. Bone mass, bone size, muscle mass. All giving those boys an unfair advantage.
Boys want to be girls. What has this world come to....so wrong and just sad, very sad!
What is a "biological" male? Transgender claims are biological claims. Your brain is as much a biological feature as your genitals.
FWIW, I think these two runners should have been running in the boys race.
1. You are confusing "genetic" with "biological." Biology is a product of both nature and nurture. Simply because something is not genetic or present at birth doesn't mean it's not biological. Brain scans show transgenderism is biological. They don't show it's genetic, but they show a clear biological trait.
2. There is no evidence that "convincing" one's self that they area certain gender physically changes their brain to match that gender.
3. Gender is much more robust than stereotypes girls like barbies and boys like baseball. Seriously, imagine you woke up in a female body. Would you be okay with it? No, of course not. You want to interact with the world as a male (assuming you are a male), not a female. Should these differences exist in society? Maybe not. But they do.
Do you have a medical source for that?

you don't need a medical source for common sense.

common sense > science ?
Talent isn’t a factor so it doesn’t matter which category they compete in. It’s all about desire.

Common sense is better than SELECTIVE science, yes.

Alright, well I'm giving you the chance to select any science you want that supports your very scientific claim.
Common sense is generally overrated, and it's completely useless if we are talking about medical concepts like this.

Insulting me doesn't make your position stronger.
Common sense is essentially a refusal to think critically. Any true proposition that we can discover via common sense can also be discovered via critical thinking. I can think of no scenario in which we are better off relying on common sense than we are choosing to think critically.

Thanks for the lesson professor.
Sorry, your ramblings will not lead me to live in the lie that transgenders and liberals want us to. I will live in the real world with 2 genders. You can live in LALA land with 500 genders. Just don't expect others to use your "special pronouns." LMAO
