what was his time ffs? I just want to know if he's a sh*ttier hobbyjogger than I am.
It is not unusual to hear people make the argument that taxpayer dollars paid for the school so I should be able to use the track. Does that mean using the gym and the chemistry lab too? What if my friends and I want to put on a play, we should be able to use the auditorium. Hey, my taxes pay for the Air Force fighter jets, I should be able to get a ride in one.
One issue with use of the track is the additional wear and tear on the track and also vandalism or just damage to it.
So a school has every right to restrict usage.
That said, kudos to the schools that do make their facilities available for community programs.
With all the crap going on at schools, I can see a school administrator thinking that the far easier route is to keep people off campus than on campus. There might be 10000 people who use that track without incident. Then one guy pees behind the bleachers and some kid happens to wonder up and sees that. The uproar!
The real question is did you have anyone to hold your spike bag during this TT?
It may be a vested interest as a runner, but I resonate with the OP. I reeeaaally build up some indignation when people try to force runners off of a track, which is soley purposed for running.
But the greater point here is that I'm super jealous of the username "Banana Bread"
Right on about PEI. Aside from what you listed, they let old people who are prejudiced against Gingers adopt such children.

might as well finish the PEI shirtless thing.
in the steam room i made friends with a number of cops, one who was an international consultant, cool guy, he himself wanted to go on runs without a shirt to get some rays, but he feared local harassment, as he was on vacation and not on assignment.
my cop friend gave me a pat on the back for my "activism" for shirtless athletes.
it goes to show you, a lot of cops are pretty sick with this politically correct garbage, but their bosses send them down the wrong path, and they just do their job.
in PEI, most of the crimes, rapes, overdoses are not reported, the cops stories from this seemingly idyllic area are absolutely horrendous.
