There are no states, let alone regions of the US that have any vast majority of a unified ideology that they would want to separate from the US or do well if they lost the citizens of the minority ideology.
Texas would not do well if they lost the people of Austin and Houston.
California would not do well without those that run agriculture and big business owners. Same with New York.
Florida is way too diverse to solidly go one way.
Even Alabama will have issues if the people of Birmingham leave.
We all seemingly want to live without the people with ideologies that are opposite of ours, but we would all be worse off for it.
I would argue that it’s not so much we can’t live with others if different ideology it’s that the ideologies and world views are becoming so different that it’s hard for many to find any common ground.
So in Texas you may actually find that a Texan Democrat and Texan Republican are not as different as one would think when it comes to ideology. The same would apply to a California Democrat and a California Republican.
However, if you have a Texan Republican, especially a rural one, talk to a San Francisco Democrat it’s often as if they are living in two different universes when it comes to their ideology. But if a rural Texan Republican talks to a Democrat from Houston while they would have differing views the differences wouldn’t be as extreme.

Very racist statement. Take your racism elsewhere please.
Not racist. It's true. Look at Federal money allocated to the states- they will lose this. I can't wait.

Yes.
See Australia
Take the state of Pennsylvania. A very divided state politically. I heard someone describe this state very well. They said, “you have Pittsburg on one side, Philly on the other side, and rural Alabama in-between.”
The state of PA, which historically is known as the center piece of the Union has been about 50/50 on these last elections. And that rural vs. urban divide is typically reflected in how people vote.
It’s not that rural voters really like guys kind Trump. Actually most think he’s an arrogant city slicker. It’s that he tapped into their anti urban /government psychology. The farmers in rural areas can’t stand the government telling them how to farm. They can’t stand being taxed to pay for city slickers to get food stamps. Especially since rural folks spend all day growing their own food.
Also the factories in small rural towns have closed over the last 50 years. Why? Because of China. So they’re bitter. Yet urban areas are absorbing all that product from overseas since they typically have major ports. Therefore they aren’t hurt by the China factor.
For the most part, the rural areas could really care less about social issues like abortion, racism, LGBTQ… They look at the economic factors of their divide with urban areas in conjunction with China and thats what angers them.
Too many look back at the American Civil War and think it was a social conflict. Freeing the slaves! But in reality it was a economic conflict. Had the northern states been more economically rural than industrial urban than their views on slavery would have been reversed.
As Billy Clinton stated, “Its the economy, stupid.”
Imagine the benefits to the athletes when it comes to the olympics. 5 or 6 teams of athletes vs 1

But you would have your own government. Why would you rise up against it if you chose it? As for thugs - surely there wouldn't be any amongst you upstanding citizens on the Right - and they are the only ones you would allow in.
This Russian professor has been predicting the balkanisation of the United States for decades, and I'm inclined to agree with him especially now the US has been experiencing a precipitous decline for at least five years. It's going to happen.
California and Texas the only ones feasibly capable of going it alone will nevertheless pull a few culturally similar states with them. The map is entirely plausible because although it's entirely feasible to see Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Arizona freely joining the Californian Republic, Idaho and Wyoming are too culturally and geographically removed from the West Coast to go along. Texas will pull Oklahoma and Arkansas to its orbit, but I'm not sure about New Mexico which might go wherever Arizona goes. The Midwestern states will also prove tricky to divide.
The new countries will form around these capitals: Los Angeles, Houston, Denver, Chicago, New York (from Maine down to Virginia) and Miami standing in as the capital of the deep South.
Most think it's just a matter of time. The United States, in it's current form, is untenable.

Spot on. I'm a Dem but the Dems needs to stop being so obtuse to these things. Throw out these silly silly social issues that nobody is gonna die on a hill for, and go for the stuff that matters to the average suburban or rural-ish voter.
if y'all still think people vote for Republicans on economic issues, even this far into the game. then no one can help you see what is in front of your face.
Do me a favor and explain why blue collar white people vote for the party that basically exists to give tax cuts to rich people, not them.
Explain why blue collar whites consistently vote against increased health care FOR THEM.
Explain why now, with the economy growing the fastest it's grown in a generation, Biden's polling is very bad.
Oh forget it.
Explain why, after the economy consistently does better under Dem presidents, we still elect R presidents.
Nah forget it. You boys go on believing that trump was elected on economic issues.
When you grow up and are able to see what is 6 inches from the front of your face, give us a call.

No, it's not location.
Democrats and Republicans in the same states and even same counties are very far apart in how they view things.
I look at school board meetings in Maryland and Virginia and people are at each other throats.
There are still houses with large Trump signs in Maryland even though Hillary and Biden beat him by a lot there, even in the counties I am talking about.
People with extreme differences in ideologies are often next door neighbors throughout the country.
There is no way to geographically spit the country to align with politics.
Look up Dan Savage's Urban Archipelago from years back.
If the US ever does dissolve, whatever's left will look a lot like that.
That is not a nation that will separate geographically. But it will come apart. The house is divided.

it's always been divided. There is almost never a quiet period.
The question is whether trump is a powerful enough force to split it apart.
I doubt it.
Let's be honest. It's fat people running everything. I think the real problem is too many fat people in positions of power. Fatness and fat thinking are rotting away the foundations of our society. fat people have permeated into every facet of our culture. Obesity is a mental illness that affects the majority of our society now. Don't you think that has an effect on our politics as well?

Joe Biden himself is not fat but I can guarantee you there is some fat person pulling the strings behind the scenes.

You are saying it's the same as it always has been. It is not.
