So my team has recently started doing harder workouts about 2 weeks ago now (3 workouts a week and a long run) and my legs started feeling pretty crappy after our workout Monday and haven't gotten better since. I have run 4:29 and 9:31 so far this year in the 16 and 32 respectively and will just be running the 32 in 2 weeks at Districts, with the hope of qualifying for states. I have to repeat the 9:31 effort, better it or just be in the top 4.
Today, my coach told us we would be doing 3 workouts again this week plus a long run and then a "scaled-back workout" next Monday (scaled back to him seems to mean a normal workout with one less set) then two easy days before the District meet on Thursday. I'm just worried that the workout schedule he has planned will keep my legs feeling dead. Is this rational thinking or am I just over worrying? Do any of you have tips for getting rid of this "dead leg" feeling and making your legs feel fresh again?
