What if I just want to read him Deepak Chopra to keep him Zen? I think that any coach that has said something to an athlete during a race can’t argue against the earpiece. Also, why is it not legal to talk to him through an earpiece, but it’s legal to yell across the track? Is communication between coaches and athletes not legal during races?
Also, the idea that coaches should shut up at race time because the athlete should have been ultimately prepared in practice is ridiculous. Watch any basketball coach. Also, watch Wooden on the sidelines. You think he didn’t coach his athletes by talking to them during games? Every sport has coaches yelling at them during their competition. Maybe not rowers,
due to distance so they put a surrogate coach (coxswain) on the boat just to yell in the athletes’ ears
I have to say, the logic against earpieces is poor.
