Yes, Ragen Chastain is on pace for a 8:27 finish at Boston.
Can't get much more blue-collar than that.
I don’t understand why the East Africans can’t be considered blue collar
I'm confused. I've never actually seen a runner in a blue collar.
Makes over $100k year for the last 8 years ain’t blue collar.
What are the guidelines to be considered a blue collar runner? I feel like I can’t tel the distinction.
Is Desi a blue collar runner but not Shalane?
Ben Blankenship, former construction worker, is smiling for his fellow blue collar runners.
This one always makes me laugh.

I love Shalane and admire everything she's done, respect her ability, her toughness, and how she represents our sport, but she is not a blue collar runner.
If you could create a runner on a computer you'd come up with Shalane Flanagan. Both her parents were accomplished runners, she's the ideal body type, the ideal family structure, family history, genetics etc.. she's been successful at the highest level of every aspect of her running life, HS, college, pro. (That is NOT saying she didn't work hard, far from it.)
It's one of the best threads ever on LRC!
A Blue Collar runner should have a day job and not a very good one at that. Peter Elliott and Paul Cummings with their steel worker jobs, Steve Jones the mechanic come to mind.
Actual Blue Collar workers too wrote:

Ben MF Blankenship (construction), too!
