Mary Wittenberg is on her way to Boston to do the honors. She won’t cancel now, as enough people haven’t traveled to Boston yet. Maybe later tonight we can expect an announcement

Yeah she's riding her Elliptigo all the way up there.
On no level is anyone connected to the race thinking about cancelling or postponing the race. In 122 years there has been worse weather that they've run through.
Looks like this will be win number five of the year for Kawauchi! That guy will run in anything.
Finally, Kauwachi is mentioned in the pre race hype. I agree , “the people’s runner” will be in the hunt.
Several of my friends are stuck at the airport due to weather holds. BAA told them they will have late and morning pickup..
yes.
I will consider it but almost for certain the race will go on with no delay.
Rather run in tomorrow’s conditions than the 2012 sauna.

Only major thing that has changed over the years is the runners.
Instead of taking on the challenge, they wonder if the race should be cancelled.
I honestly don't understand why people think this weather is cancel worthy. Yes it sucks. But races have been held in way worse conditions. It's gonna be in the 40s ffs.
These people must not be from cold weather climates. I can see how that would make one worry about this weather. I personally would prefer this to 70s and sunny.
F Yeah! Now I wish I was out there running Boston. This is the kind of weather that the whippets out in front tend to not do well in. Big ole 4wd trucks like me just power through shiite like this. Reminds me of 2012 CIM. I beat a lot guys that normally beat me. I didn't PR (but wasn't far from it) but I consider that race on of my best ever.
Get tough and get after it.

They should not offer this. The rules are the rules, when Expo ends this evening that should be the absolute end for bib pickup. People traveling should have allotted extra time for the possibility of complications in getting there.
Desi now has a chance. 2:29 and she's right in it.
The temperature is going to be in the 40s so ice will not be a factor on Monday. It's going to be rainy and windy but that is not a barrier to getting out there and either volunteering or participating. I ran it in 2015 in the rain and wind.
There is no possible way the B.A.A. would cancel.
Everybody would want a refund and/or free entry to the 2019 marathon.
I'm not certain how this would work if it were cancelled.
The entire accepted 2018 field would want to be accepted into the 2019 field.

This guy gets it. Rain and wind are far more friendly than extreme heat during a marathon. Heat can kill you, rain can... well make it fun because time won’t matter.
that may be but running a Boston Marathon with almost zero spectators makes the fun level go way down.
Down to almost being a drag.
A big factor in cancellation is the attitude of the insurers. If they have an extreme weather clause in the insurance contract then the race organizers could fine themselves uninsured. I doubt that would apply in this case as a) Boston is big enough to get those clauses out of any contract and b) the weather looks to be not that severe. However, some smaller races with low budget insurance have found their insurance voided if it's too hot, too cold, too icy etc.

Are you kidding me? Why does it matter? Are you even racing tomorrow? No. I know people are very dumb, but it still surprises me people are actually as stupid and petty as you.

This is why I read the boards.
