Are these sessions too much for a group of female 800m runners with abilities of around 2:22-2:30 and average age of 17? They are all 800m pace sessions that were scheduled in march and april this year:
3 x 3 x 400m. 2 mins rests for reps, 6/7 mins rest for sets.
4 x 300m, 4 x 250m. 100m walk recovery for set 1, 100m walk and 50m jog for set 2. 6/7 mins between sets.
3 x 220m, 3 x 240m, 3 x 260m. 90 rest for set 1, 1:45 for set 2, and 2 mins rest for set 3. 7/8 mins between sets.
3 x 300m, 2 x 250m, 3 x 300m. 100m walk for sets 1 and 3, 100m walk and 50m jog for set 2. 5/6 rest between sets.
2 x 3 x 350m. 100m walk recovery. 8 mins between sets.
2 x 3 x 400m. 200m walk recovery, 8 mins between sets
Are these too much volume for girls of that ability this early in the season? What would you recommend to change?
