There are only two coaches currently under the age of 60 who have won multiple NCAA Championships - Mike Holloway (Florida) and Robert Johnson (Oregon). Why is the search for Texas' next coach not starting and ending with these two men?
Find out whatever Johnson wants and give it to him! If he won't take the job, then move on to Holloway and do the same for him. If they both turn you down, then double the offer and get us a TRACK COACH!
This kind of reminds me of when Mack Brown left and people were demanding that they do whatever it took to make Nick Saban the head coach at Texas. No one in their right mind ever believed that Saban would leave Bama for Texas. Why would either Johnson or Holloway leave their superior programs to coach an inferior one? Even if they got offered huge raises, Oregon and Florida both have much more invested in their programs than Texas and would surely match any offer. If all else is equal, there is no way in hell Johnson or Holloway would leave their respective schools for Texas.
The Longhorn crazies need to lower their expectations.
