Anything else of note happened yet at New Balance Nationals. We haven't had much time to pay attention to it with NCAAs?
Loudoun Valley breaks CBA's national high school record in the indoor 4xMile with 17:01.82

Anybody have splits?

Where are the exchange zones for the 4 Mile relay on outdoor 400 meter tracks and indoor 200 meter tracks? For the HS New Balance National Indoor Championship this weekend, did they just put white athletic tape down on the Armory track? Wouldn’t it be confusing since the exchange zones would overlap but yet not be identical? Curious to know what big time meets actually do.

Don’t know how they split it, but sources say these were the splits.
Connor Wells 4:28
Jacob Hunter 4:19
Sam Affolder 4:10
Colton Bogucki 4:11 -
Wait, is that number after there names thier age? If so, Loudoun Valley got incredibly lucky having three 19 year olds somehow still in high school... I finished my senior year at 17 years old which I'm pretty sure is normal for most high schoolers. That's a pretty huge age advantage for LV.

Just kidding, that's thier graduation years. I'm an idiot. -
They certainly got super lucky that Affolder left Carlisle to go there.

Tuohy on the line in 5 minutes. I predict new 2 mile national record.

ZZZZZZZZZZ. This talk-of-transfer bullshit is a broken record.
Hey, speaking of broken records, did you catch that 4x1 mile NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RECORD by Loudoun Valley boys? Did you catch that 4x800 ARMORY RECORD by Loudoun Valley boys? -

You aight bro -
The splits announced during the 4xMile race were way off, so the final digital timing has to be the truth here. From these digital results (with Affolder actually running third and Bogucki fourth -- not as listed below), the mile splits, down to thousanths, were:
Connor Wells - 4:28.094
Jacob Hunter - 8:43.147 minus 4:28.094 = 4:15.053
Sam Affolder - 12:52.679 minus 8:43.147 = 4:09.532
Colton Bogucki - 17:01.817 minus 12:52.679 = 4:09.138
That's two sub-4:10s.
1) Wells, Connor 19 2) Hunter, Jacob 19 3) Bogucki, Colton 18 4) Affolder, Samuel 19 41.732 (41.732) 1:14.753 (33.021) 1:48.093 (33.340) 2:21.394 (33.301) 2:55.254 (33.860) 3:27.985 (32.731) 3:58.338 (30.353) 4:28.094 (29.756) 4:57.881 (29.787) 5:29.437 (31.556) 6:03.108 (33.671) 6:35.623 (32.515) 7:08.296 (32.673) 7:41.067 (32.771) 8:13.245 (32.178) 8:43.147 (29.902) 9:12.071 (28.924) 9:42.172 (30.101) 10:12.382 (30.210) 10:44.477 (32.095) 11:16.739 (32.262) 11:49.105 (32.366) 12:19.859 (30.754) 12:52.679 (32.820) 13:24.228 (31.549) 13:55.717 (31.489) 14:26.422 (30.705) 14:57.684 (31.262) 15:30.110 (32.426) 16:01.754 (31.644) 16:32.297 (30.543) 17:01.817 (29.521) -
Are you sure the 4:28 doesn’t include the extra 36 meters? And the rest of them ran 1600s? That 41sec first 200 would seem to account for running all of the extra distance.
-
No, I'm not sure of the meaning of those splits, to be honest. I may have jumped to conclusions by assuming the numbers were for equal multiples, and not in meters. I think the announcer said Connor Wells's split was 4:23 or so, then 4:19 for Hunter.
I'm just curious to get those final splits. -
If the rearranged their two teams could they have gone 1-2? It would have been really close.
Hunters, great job with the team. I steal everything I can from you guys. You have something figured out that not many else have. -

There needs to be a stickied post of some sort leading to the chart of Kindergarten Cutoff Dates in the US across states, because far too many people on these boards are somehow misled into believing 17-years old is the standard age for graduating high schoolers.
Over half the states in the US have a Kindergarten Cutoff date of September 1st, meaning kindergarteners must turn 5 BEFORE September 1st in order to enroll. Of the rest of the states, the vast majority have cutoff dates of either August, July, or October 1st. This means that the majority of students will be 5 before starting kindergarten, 6 before starting 1st grade, all the way up until 17 BEFORE starting their Senior Year.
For any high school that ends in ~May or June (majority of US high schools) this also means that nearly 75% of students will turn 18 before graduating. Students who graduate high school at 17 are within the youngest 25% of their cohort.
The stupidity associated with this misconception leads to repeat comments every year about how student X is 18 years old during Outdoor Track, which gives him an unfair advantage, when in reality, the average US HS student will be 18 years old during Outdoor Track. -
The crazy thing is that they had a "B-team" place 6th in 17:45. That means the 4-8 guys on their team are better than all but 5 teams' top 4 guys. Ridiculous.

Nailed it. -
Their A team averages 4:15.xx and their B team averages 4:26.xx for a full mile. That is a deep bench. Their 7-8th best guys would #1 on 90+% of HS teams.
The fastest on the B squad was faster than the A team's slowest (the guy who opened with 4:28 for 1636m), meaning Loudon should've broke 17 today.
What's the outdoor record? -
Whatever Casey Clinger and crew ran last year, 16:41 for 4x1600. 17:04 for 4xmile by some other people
