He's upset he hasn't gotten a few promotions.
"I wanted to tell him that I will not compete for them again,” said Kamworor....
“I am disappointed that I have competed for Police for many years but they have never recognised me,” said Kamworor.
“I want to thank Kenyans who have supported me all these years but I am unhappy that my employer has never seen anything good in me.”

Anyone know how much these runners get from the Police, or Army?
Geoffrey Kamworor wins 2018 Kenyan xc champs, then rips his employer.... No not Nike but the Kenyan Police Force

Here is a race recap:

In comparison, IIRC Tirunesh Dibaba received multiple promotions very early in her 20's.

I really like Geoffrey Kamworor and he is actually my top tip for the London Marathon in April, but I would also like to think that promotion at your job, whatever that happens to be, should be based on job performance rather than just being able to run fast.
Emil Zatopek got numerous promotions in the Czechoslovak Army and ended his career as a Captain but knew precisely nothing about his supposed speciality and never commanded men or gave any orders.
whereas, Admiral of the Fleet Michael Cecil Boyce, Baron Boyce, KG, GCB, OBE, DL actually earned his promotions after he retired as a 400m hurdler. he ran 48.4 for 400m and 52.2 for the hurdles in 1961, was Royal Navy champion twice and Inter-Services champion, and ran twice for England, a surprising fact not even mentioned in his Wikipedia biography.

Zatopek stood up to invading Russian tanks, and was a National inspiration for doing so. -
Very easy to run from American cops, must be total opposite in Kenya. Kamwo WILL catch you, unless you can outsprint him to a moving vehicle/fence etc

How soft were the 400m and 400mh in the 60s that you would bring up a guy who ran 48.4/52 2? A high school kid running those times now would be very good, but not amazing. -
Err, Nike is his sponsor, not his employer....
You'd think a business-savvy entrepreneur like LRC co-founders would know the difference? -

Apparently the basic salary is US$5,000 per YEAR for Kamworor's rank. No wonder he's upset.

Unless your job is based on being able to run really fast
there fixed that for you.
Employees like Kamworor are not hired to catch criminals they are hired to represent the Police at competitions and in general - of which he has done exceedingly well. -

If I was a hard working tapayer in Kenya doing a real job I would be pretty hacked off that the Police in Kenya were blowing away my taxes to fund some dude to go running when he is also being given prize money and appearance fees at races. The Police should be hiring people to catch criminals and not to go running. -
As long as he's not taking bribes he's a better policeman than most of the rest of the force. As a Peace Corps volunteer I made that much in living allowance 20 years ago, so it's understandable that officers try to supplement their income.

Kenya has police?

If I was a hard working tapayer in the USA doing a real job I would be pretty hacked off that the Army in the USA were blowing away my taxes to fund some Kenyan dude to go running when he is also being given prize money and appearance fees at races. Just goes to show that lowlife pigs act the same in every country.
-
Are you calling Kam a pig? He's only ever in uniform for parades and ceremonies.

And Rudisha is too apparently.
Kenyan police are amongst the most corrupt in the world.
A top athlete being a Kenyan policeman is a little like a top East German runner also being a member of the Stasi.

Absolutely. He said he's a Sergeant of some kind in the article. That makes him a lowlife pig.
He's a bottom feeding bag of bones. -
He just add "F***k The" above the "POLICE" on his bib.
