I run outside everyday even if it is -30 degrees F and a blizzard or tornado. What ever happened to mental toughness?
I realize this thread is all about humble flexing on fatties, but the actual answers are pretty obvious.
1) The gym rats are already there lifting. Since they aren't runners, they aren't going to invest in much time running, so it doesn't make sense to pile on layers just to shuffle on ice for 20 minutes. Even if they were, that's nonsense. There's no reason to suffer on purpose.
2) They are doing "cardio", not running. Most of these people wouldn't know how to run if you took them outside, they probably spend most of their time using the cross ramp or elliptical. Even if they treadmill exclusively, those are the people posting on runnit asking why their runs suck after going out at 400m PR pace.
3) All the people that are going to wreck you in the spring have been doing their quality indoors when footing was bad. You may feel like a hard ass because you have wind burns and a torn meniscus, but your turn over is going to be shot. Enjoy having your doors blown off in the last quarter.
At least we know you were vaccinated.
