Most of the sprinters I know are quite lazy. I find it unlikely that they would be willing to run more than 400m much less 800m or 1600m, especially if they had to do it hard. Asking a distance kid to go run a 200 would be easy.
Asking a distance kid to run a 200??
That's not the question...a distance runner goes 200 any race the do. So what?
Also, laziness is not relevant or accurate by any means. Just cause a 11.0 sprinter doesn't run with distance guys or even mid day guys doesn't mean they weren't born with the talent to do so....
There in lies the difference.
No matter how hard they work at it, pure distance guys will never drop a 12.0 or even 12.5.
....If you could get any 11.0 sprinter to give a shite about a race further than 400, they can certainly train for a faster mile time than most "fast" distance guys. Effort, and caring about it is all it would take.Fiber conversion works fast to slow but not the other way.
Slow is slow, period and despite all the sniveling by the distance guys about effort and training, genetics is the most important factor.
