No college coach has last minute availability for a runner at the level to waste a weekend rabbitting instead of racing or training.
Wrong.
2k at that pace would be a great workout.
Ever heard of racing into FITNESS?
He might be right. There is probably 10 guys that could bang that out in a workout. 30 more would be a very tough time trial type run, and another 20 guys that could do that or faster all out.
I'm not sure if it's the best use of time for the 10 guys that could do it easily, even for $500. And the 30 guys would could do it but would be very challenged I'm not sure I would trust to rabbit if I was in rojos shoes.
I think if he just had them get through 1600 or even 1800 would open up the possibilities.
$600 is min for 1099

You think I'm wrong about finding a coach that would do this on one day's notice and is either already in the Boston area or would fly their athlete (last minute) to do this?
A week's notice maybe.
It's not a bad workout, but plans have already been made for anyone to race or train today.
A post-collegiate runner would be more reasonable in this situation.
I don't see a college coach doing this last minute.

I’m not sure that publically stating you will circumnavigate NCAA rules is such a great idea.
there's a lot of rules, it would take a long time to sail around them even with a fast boat.
As an NCAA D1 coach, I love everything about this.

Wait, 7:50 pace for 2k? Or 5:15 total 2k time? They dont match.
+1
I think he has a typo in there someplace.
Clearly both of you don't have to worry about the NCAA coming down on you for accepting payment, because you both have the math skills of a high school dropout.
Wow, you're both severely confused.
A "rabbit" huh,
Just run the race at that pace, why the rabbit? Man up, if you can do it, do it. God helps those who help themselves.
Could be a DQ for the letsrun guy. Looks like he cut in early on lap one along with a couple other guys. That'd suck.

Yep. That's why American road racers were so much better back in the day. Everybody is afraid of injury now. Gone are the days of competition, all we get is these two-a-year marathoners. A real shame.

We also have to have a rabbit in every race or else.
Prefontaine ran 8:27 for 2 miles on an 11 lap to the mile track on this date way back when. Do you think he had a rabbit???

Pay no attention to the fact that he was in 8:20 shape at the time, and he wasn't trying to qualify for something right at his limit. Or did you buy into the "No Limits" mythology?

Ok, not sure I recall him having rabbits any time, but whatever?
Any pacer? Hear results?

I agree that he was in 8:20 shape at the time, his 8:27 on an 11 lap to the mile track would easily have been an 8:17 at BU, so yea not just 8:20, sub 8:20.

Who got the $500?
It says Robert Cheseret rabbitted that heat. I hope he got some money.
