Well it hasn't been publicized or announced, so I'd say it wasn't widely known news. He's been living in PDX and training with Engels, so stop being a know-it-all c/nt.

Salazar turned old man Farah into a 3:28 man, and Centro into an Olympic Champion. I doubt he'd be too eager to train under anyone else in the world, but maybe I'm wrong.
exactly. why leave.
but maybe now's a good time to leave beforr sh*t REALLY gets stirred up?! something we don't know about...yet?
Could get involved with the American team if he's back in DC, even in a small volunteer assistant capacity while he's still running competitively. I could see a very slow transition into coaching for him, depending on how interested he'd be in that.
I know his dad just announced his retirement. Centro Jr. as the successor?

Unlikely scenario. They hired Sean Graham and I highly doubt he left Kentucky to be a place holder.
There does seem to be some evidence that he may be working with his dad though. Why else would Senior leave American? Resign to take a more hands on role with his son, with Nike paying him a salary. Now he can travel to altitude, races, Europe, etc and not have to worry about his 9-5. I also remember reading many months ago when we were debating if Murphy would end up with a training group and if so which one, that someone said if Murphy joined the NOP, Centro told people he would leave. Perhaps Nike is doing something similar to Centro, that they did to Leo. Albeit, I doubt they don't/haven't re-signed him, maybe they don't think Centro can repeat in 2020 and want to put their resources behind a couple of younger guys (one with an Olympic bronze), who will be in peak age in 2020.

You heard it here first- Centro is leaving NOP
If the rumors are true of him moving up to the 5000m it only makes sense that he brings his Dad into the mix. I'm sure Alberto will be involved in some way with coaching/advising him whether he stays in PDX or moves back East. A change of venue and environment wouldn't be a bad thing if he's taking the next step in his career. He may be getting stale in Oregon. The key factor is that he surrounds himself with quality training partners who will challenge him in training.
Either way he's in good hands.
Go Centro!.......Sub 13:00 ?????
Virtually everyone salazar has coached has done their p.r.s under him, even if they leave while young.

Don't drink the water at Salazar's house.
Senior left American because he was about to get fired. Team has been terrible last several years, and at least one female athlete was threatening a lawsuit for harassment.
Aren’t you being a little harsh? Top 6 in the Patriot League is pretty good don’t ya think? The eagles haven’t lost to Loyola MD or Holy Cross.
Is he taking the Centro sauce with him?

Since the soccer teams, basketball teams, and some their sports coaches have been fired due to poor performance...wait none ever have been.
Also, I highly doubt a female athlete threatens a sexual harassment suit if you don't fire the guy. You usually get sued, the plantif gets paid, and the coach is fired during or after that process. Now there could have been complaints, but in this sue happy culture and a snowflake university like American University, the school would be sued and the athlete would be paid.

There has been coaching turnover in some of the less successful athletic programs for the eagles such as women’s soccer and lacrosse. Most of the other teams have been successful enough to not warrant the termination of those coaches solely for team performance.

Makes sense. Centrowitz was ovetyrained and injured last year, a blatant coaching error.
Still can't believe Salazar ordered that viral infection before USAs, questionable move.
Pete Julian started coaching him last year and he coaches Jenkins, Engels, Murphy and Rowbury now as well. Salazar mainly just coaches Rupp and Hasay and will probably retire when those two are done.
Maybe Centro didn't like the fact that Salazar dropped him off to Julian after the Olympic Gold, but he was definitely doing majority of his work with Jenkins and a little bit with Mo last year. It really doesn't make sense for him to be under his dad. He doesn't seem like the type that strives off of training alone. He has the speed of Murphy, a fellow miler in Engels, and the strength of Jenkins are training partners. Other than going to Kenya, you can't find a better training combination.
A more plausible explanation is that since he's finishing up his degree at Oregon he doesn't want to commute and he's doing most of his runs with the OU team. He'll be at altitude training with his NOP boys in May after his graduation.

Did American get a new AD recently? Centro had coached there a long time, the team performance had been inconsistent and they have not run a team at XC regionals several times in the last few years. The rate of attrition on the roster is also pretty bad.

Also his post on his insta story a couple days ago about his new apartment. He was showing the view out the window and it did not look like Portland. I think the OP is correct. He's living out east again.
anyone have this pic? i also saw and was surprised how built-up where he lived was given my impressions of Portland, but it also didn't seem like DC as far as I remember...

what stood out to me wasnt so much the buildings and such. It was how dead everything looked. Portland is much more green. but unless someone took a screenshot of that instagram story then it's gone by now.
Centro was out east for a book signing in NYC, he’s back in Portland now. Saw him at the local target picking up way too much candy. Even saw him peel out of the parking lot in his GTR.
