I've helped 5 million Americans get out of debt. What have you done today - eaten a $20 salad from Whole Foods?
Hmm, I smell an infomercial scam brewing here/. Let me guess, send a way for your free kit entitled "How not to work at McDonald's when 65."

Yep. They were talking about crypto currency on "Archer: Vice" four years ago. I should be rolling at winklevoss money and retired getting ready to go to McDonald's right now.
This site is so odd: We have a person writing as noted radio financial guru/obvious advice salesman Dave Ramsey on a distance running site where he never writes about running, yet everyone not only takes his statements at an unironic face value but additionally lob invective and abuse at him. Wow.
Eat sh!t, Dave.
The person who observed that the real problem is that the US has the most expensive, and worst healthcare system in all the first world, nailed it.

Hate to break it to you buddy, but those illegal immigrants are a big part of what is keeping social security afloat. They pay into the system but can never collect any benefits.
Some illegal immigrants do take SS benefits. They avoid deportation by committing identity theft with a stolen SS#, and then when the time comes, start collecting benefits. I'm getting my information from an episode of "This American Life" on NPR. In the telling of the story, NPR tried to gloss over this fact, and minimize its affect. But when you listened closely, they stated this to be what was happening.
Of course, not all illegals that do this, but some do. It's a problem that has the potential to get much worse, especially with the amount of personal information that has been hacked in recent years. The illegals working under stolen SS# are paying into the system, but it will still cause a lot of problems for those whose identity was stolen. It just shows that when we fail to enforce the laws as written, it creates down stream problems for society.

Who observed that and what does that have to do with "Dave Ramsey" ranting on LRC?

Wrong as usual. They work behind the counter because America is the only developed country in the world that doesn’t have free healthcare. So, when the old person gets cancer and their spouse gets cancer they can’t afford to pay the medical bills so they go work somewhere to pay for it. For all you know they had $10m in savings at retirement and it was obliterated by healthcare costs.
Do some real research and get back to us.
Option 2 is they paid for their 10 children to go to college so their kids don’t have to take out $100k in student loan debt. That also obliterates your savings. Some people put their kids first.
Some people are stupid focks for paying for their 10 kids to go to college instead of taking care of themselves.
