Thread title says it all. I'm running my first marathon Sunday at CIM. Never run more than 10 or 11 miles in my life. Haven't done any training runs in excess of 5 miles, most days closer to 3. But I have run every single day.
Over the summer I ran 16:30 for 3 miles off of similar training. I'm a 28 year old male.
Shooting for 3:30. Am I gonna be over or under?
Good luck.
Apples to oranges, but I am more fast twitch and when I was a younger man, 28 as well, I trained for 6 weeks in prep for a 1/2. Training 3 days a week at 3 miles. Ran the 1/2 in 1:36. Hit mile 1 in 6:47, mile 2 in 7:07, just going with the flow. That caught up to me at mile 11, but as others said, you get through it and the last couple miles were fine.
Anyway, if you can hit 16:30 for 5k, you will be fine going at 8min miles, feeling fresh until it becomes a drag, then you have to tough it out and finish.
