Wow, that’s a lot to be carrying around on such a small frame, you need professional help!

Holly,
She grew an inch and dropped 60 pounds. That boyfriend is whipping her into shape!
Good job!

Hi everyone,
Clearly the post above isn’t me, I really should’ve registered my username.
After consideration of multiple options such as diets, exercise, and even surgery. We’ve(my partner and I) decided to have our daughter put down this weekend. She has lived a good 14 years but enough is enough of this “eat whatever I want” mentality.
What a horrid thing to post here, especially as many high schoolers will read this and think this is an appropriate way to react to plus sized individuals.
Anyways, my wife and I have actually decided to take her to Willy Wonka's factory to see if the Oompa Loompas can squeeze the juice out of her, like they did with that giant blueberry girl.

How could we as parents approach this problem in a sensible manner?
By trying about 5,000 other things before asking LRC.
Oh did I mention we belong to a nudist colony of Dukabors. Being thin is important in our culture, 14 is when we think about life mates... arranged of course.
Most fat farms won’t let us register because of our beliefs
This is the most entertaining thread since the Alex K. thread. Most likely this will suffer same fate of early deletion by ultra-sensitive mods.
Some possible weight loss options:
Summer camp in North Korea.
Post pictures of Rosie O'Donnell in close proximity of weight-challenged person, this will lower food cravings dramatically.
Become a professional runner where you're paid to be anorexic.
Give up gluten, grapes, granola, and every food group that contains calories for 40 days, but don't convert to Islam.
MUSGA
Well, we couldn't take it anymore. I found a twinkie sticking out of her fanny pack and went full-on, batsh*t ballistic.
I will not have an obese pig in my family.
We sent her to a 6 month training camp. One of those surprise intervention type deals..

What is "dangerously fat"? What is her BMI?
But obese is the new " normal."
Try Loving acceptance you elitist rock climbing, self centered A-hole. You're more concerned about what your friends will say , than your child.

One again, this was not me posting this and I am getting sick and tired of people posting fake stuff under my username.
My wife and I do NOT belong to a nudist colony of Dukabors We are NOT nudists. We are Bronies.
As far as our daughter, we believe the best course of action at this point, and after consulting some parenting books, is to have her live outside, in a cage. She will be fed lettuce in the morning and carrots in the evening. She will be able to drink from small water bottle provided (and refilled of course). We will change her bedding once a week. On occasion we will take her out, pet her, hold her and let her run around the living room, just so she knows we love her. In the winter, or at least the colder days of the year, we will bring her cage into the garage so she doesn't get too cold.
OP here. In preparation for our adventure to the Himalayas next year, I've decided to make an altitude chamber out of my daughters room and to refashion me and my wife's love swing into a hoistering-device for obese climbers, which I'm of course filing a patent for.
I'd like to state again that I find most of your comments very problematic and insensitive toward my underage daughter. Regarding weight-loss, I've decided to consult the advice of an operating thetan of our church.
slowly increase millage until 40mpw then add in some cross training
I've obviously lost control of this thread so I'm just going to give up I guess. I should have known better. We've talked with her and convinced her to increase her weight by no more than 10% per week and she's agreed that this is the best way to remain healthy, especially as she has decided to go barefoot. Every fourth week, she's going to cut back on Twinkies, but try to maintain the same calorie level so as not too lose to much fatness. It's those cutback weeks that really challenge. But at least she's off the couch. It's a compromise we can live with. We appreciate the support from everyone. Now, if my wife could only take a lesson from my daughter... don't get me started...

I'd take her to her doctor for starters. Have the doctor speak to her about her weight. Alone. Or take her to a nutritionist. Its not about the weight - it's about the food she is eating. She needs to be more aware of what she is putting into her body and the cost of putting too much bad stuff in it. Also, a doctor could be able to detect if there is an emotional element to the eating.

Doctor will pump and dump, sending her home to a box of Twinkies.
I have several things:
1. Take her to a doctor and have the doctor discuss this with her.
2. Have her follow up with the doctor because this can be a very sensitive issue with all kinds of health ramifications.
3. You shouldn't be coming to a message board for advice.
4. You should really consider parenting classes if this is where you seek advice (I fear you may do more damage if you don't seek professional help for your daughter). Your advice might be flawed.
5. Don't come back here for advice for your children. Go to a professional (doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist).

I guess there's always the one guy who wouldn't see a troll if it hit him over the head with a brick that had "troll" spray-painted on it in neon colors.

Obvious trolling attempt.
if that is correct, her BMI is 23.3, which is in the normal range (under 25)
