This is the group that is destroying our sport. The Bob Kennedy thread has me excited to point fingers.
1. They see themselves as good.
2. They think they would all be OLYMPIANS if they were given better opportunities.
3. They think they know enough about the sport to coach.
4. They slam the 5 hour marathoner as if they are World Class
5. They slam all Pro runners (and their coaches)
Males 2:30--2:50 marathoners

That wasn't me. I'm a 2:2x guy. -
I am a 2:35 Marathoner.
1. I would say I'm solid...I see good as sub-2:30 and great as Sub-2:20
2. I would never be an Olympian or thought I would be. In college I thought I had a shot at the trials.
3. I have seen less qualified coaches.
4. I do slam 5 hour marathoners cause 11:23 is basically trotting.
5. I have never slammed a pro-runner...except maybe Kara Goucher. -

what makes you so different than a 2h30/2h40 Marathoner with your 2:2x? -
I disagree that the sport is being "destroyed".

This is my first post since the original. Others are just trolling. I've run 2:16 and own a running shop. I see the 2:30--2:50 guys in the store all the time.
I had an excellent coach and could never do what he has done. -
this is another post of some ex college failed runner thinking any one who didnt run in college should not be allowed to ever run, youre depressed you couldnt win in college and now youre depressed you cant even win out of college so all you got left is making fun of anyone who is slower than you
-
Actually I see the 2:15-2:2x guys as the single worst. They all BELIEVE they can make it but won't. Waste tons of resources and time.
The 2:3x guys are making bank at local races and have real jobs, lives, and honest opinions of themselves. -

OK, I get it. They are ruining your shop so you think they are ruining the sport. -
All I see here is someone who wants to brag about their sub-2:30 marathon PR. Shut up and train harder so you can make the Olympic Trials.

You suck too, bro. No talent, or else you'd be a 2:1x "guy". Keep training hard for no good reason though. -
And why aren't you a 2:0x guy? Not enough talent or just lazy?

I bet your 800 time time is above 2 queer -
Rojo, retitle this thread "I'm a loser runner who hates guys who are faster than I am"
-
Nope you guys missed the point.
I never thought 2:16 was good. I also knew I was never going to be Elite. I was fortunate enough to run the trials in 2007 in NYC. But I was there as a fan knowing that I had no chance. I also have way more respect for the woman that uses the sport to change her life and loses half her body weight and super proud of her sub 5 hr marathon.
If 8 minute mile Bob Kennedy walks into my store, I'll be begging him for an autograph and certainly not belittling his current fitness level. -

So the people who keep your store in business are bad for the sport? -

No. The people who keep the store in business are 8 minute mile Bob Kennedy and 11:23 minute mile Jennifer Smith.
