Wow. Great run OR. Huge negative split and big PR.

2:52:29, with a 1:27:47/1:24:42 negative split.
Well done. I think that puts the mini-fridge jokes to rest.
Holy Sh!t. O mfing R. Had to be first to say it.
Smart run! Dammmmm what a great day!!!!!
outsiderunner -- Congratulations! As one who has followed your training since last year's NYC marathon, it's SO gratifying to see you SMASH your goal. That is HUGE -- what an accomplishment.
The consistency in training, the hills, pushing through the summer heat and humidity, the progressions with those fast closing miles -- it all came together perfectly on race day.
Very impressive. You've gotta be happy. And that big negative split must fill you with confidence for the future! Congrats again!
OR - massive congrats. You surprised me. I honestly thought you would get greedy and speed up too soon. But it seems you've done everything right.
I was a little worried he would get antsy early too.
Awesome race OR!!! Way to smash that sub-3, and on Veteran's Day no less. HUGE congrats.
RRR - nice job on the win!!! Learning how to win is just as important as learning how to run fast. Nice work.
Laughlin. - thanks. Was a tough course w almost 600ft gain and 150 of that steady uphill from mile 11-12.3 or so. But that part came in handy for me cause I gapped other guy and juiced it downhill to finish. I am def aerobically strong but still don't have much pop speed wise.
So proud of OR. Ran a Brilliant race sounds like. Cheeeeeeers.
I am going to proceed to get more drunk.
Congratulations you two. Great racing.
Way to go crushing the Sub-3 OR.
Go down a few RRR. All hail the champ.
Looking at splits. The guy who got second pulled a classic RRR. First three miles. 5:35-6:02-6:03. I'm very suprised dude held on the way he did. Props to that guy.
OR great race. I was looking for you but you were too far ahead of me.
I surprised myself with an almost 5 minute negative split but couldn't catch you.
Great race!
Great job guys! Gotta feel proud about your accomplishments!
Congrats OR! You're a natural marathoner. I called that several months ago! Now go drink 5 beers like RRR!!!!?
RRR - the half marathon is ~98% aerobic so I think you are good there. Even so, have you done much track work (like VO2 max, 5k pace, etc.) stuff in the past? It seems like you've got a pretty solid base under you and could really benefit from some faster work.
Happy Veteran's Day!
Laughlin - not really. A few track workouts. But mainly longer stuff and tempos. I detest shorter stuff is main reason why. I am gonna gobble gobble turkey trot and run a series 5k on December but other than that just base miles (biiiiiig miles) until spring. I didn't run fast at 1:22:35 but I think on a flat course I coulda scared 1:20. And the more miles I do the faster my races seem to get. Was a 2 min PR technically.
So proud of OR. I know he is over the moon. That is some great freaking racing!
Oh and the GF for a 14 minute PR.
Move over JS I AM THE NEW COACH!

5 beers is RRR's pre-race meal.
I did have five pints before 11. Hell craft beer at the finish?! Yes please.
Just got home. RRR FTW--big congrats to you, my friend!
Yes, I am COMPLETELY over the moon! I felt great the whole way, and was in complete control from beginning to end. I will provide more comments later (need to keep hugging my kids), but I will say that I ran that race more or less "blind." My watch did not pick up the signal until about two miles in, and for a strange reason (which I will explain later), it did not give me mile split chimes.
Felt great as I crossed the finish line, and could have kept going.
Thanks to everyone here for all of the kind regards, and thanks to you, Runn3rGirl, for paying me such a fine compliment about being a natural marathoner.
I love all of you and will never forget this...one of the best days of my life, for sure.
late to the party but jesus christ you absolutely made that marathon your b!tch OR haha, fantastic run! Looks like you had plenty left in the bank with that kind of negative split too. I think I predicted low 2:50's too, your everyday mileage just looked so strong and so a 26 mile run at a pace similar to those runs seemed to make sense. I see sub 2:50 coming soon! Congratulations!
