USATF Abbott Dash to the Finishline 5k USATF Champs LIVE Thread and Stream

Natosha Rogers seems to be quietly improving and having a great year. Seems like more of a strength 10K-to-marathon type runner to me, but def showed some wheels in the final 1K today to come in 3rd. Great race!

Erin has no more remaining eligibility at UM, as far as know. However, if not sponsored, she is free sport her Michigan gear, or gear from any other school for that matter.

How do you know that she accepted airline and room at NYC this weekend? Did you see the charges go through on and post to someone else's account?

It also could be the case that the room was booked by the sponsor (just to get a room on the same floor as other athletes), but still Legal Eagle would have no idea who ultimately paid for the room. Even if Legal Eagle works for the hotel, and can see the charge to the sponsor, he would have no idea whether Finn is paying back the sponsor to maintain eligibility. The only way Legal Eagle could know for sure is if he/she works for the sponsor.

NCAA athletes can accept funding, support and prize money up to the amount of reasonable expenses necessary to train and compete as part of an open event. That includes travel, room and board for a race.

This is not a new rule. I would have trouble believing that the UM Compliance staff haven’t documented the necessary paper trail on this one.

Erin’s eligibility for track will be fine.

HOKA is really wasting a lot of $$$$$ and talent

I spoke to David Monti, who is the elite athlete coordinator for the NYRR. He told me before the race that Erin would be accepting prize money if she won -- but only enough to cover her "training expenses," which is permissible under NCAA rules. I would think that airfare/hotel can be chalked up as expenses and thus covered by the race. Erin is not turning pro yet and still plans to run track for Michigan in 2018.

Anyone have a video of the race?
