D1 Coach pretty much nails it. Sparks is a good coach. Carlson is a good recruiter and has the potential to be a good coach. Turner is the problem. Plain and simple.
When he took over I thought they'd at least excel in Sprints, but they haven't.
I take issue with the comment that the men's team lacks commitment. They've had a bunch of injuries. The guys that have stayed healthy have shown good development. They just lost 2+ years in recruiting blue chippers when Piane left and Turner took over. Then Sparks moved to focusing on the Women's team and Carlson took over for Men's distance.
It'll be two years before we see how this strong Men's recruiting class pans out. My guess is that they'll be challenging VA Tech, NC State and UVA for 2nd place at ACCs (behind 'Cuse) and potentially qualifying for Nats.
Regarding the 11:00 girl who couldn't walk on, I'd say that's pretty common in P5 conferences. You'd have to understand the context before you pass judgement. Glad to see that she developed into a strong contributor in a D1 program. Good for her.
(BTW, I don't run for ND. I just know a few of the guys on the team pretty well.)
