But they do have a double MIAC champ, now
To answer the question of a possible triple winner, Lucas Mueller was about half a second and a missed bell away from that, not to mention a DMR champ. Wow. Carls will be a juggernaut next year even without Donny, St. Thomas be wary.
Better question: who will be Carleton’s #5 in cross, and can the Ole returners recharge enough to challenge?

Does Lukas transfer, now? He could effectively go anywhere if you think about it. Especially since he is very academically inclined.
That seems so boring. Winning every MIAC race like its nothing (please don't bring up that 5k crap). Nationals will be tough, yes, but that is one or two races a season... I would leave

Good point. He should definitely transfer to UW-La Crosse.

Seems like donson enjoyed his time at carleton but then again the miac was good back then. Seems like you guys need to step up you're game and run faster
It might behoove you to do a little research on the recent history of the MIAC before you start slandering the present day athletes. Certain events are obviously stronger in certain years, but as a whole, the MIAC is pretty much as good this year as it has been the past few. Being washed up must suck, though.
What I got from MIAC indoor: UST won again and Mueller is dominant.
Freshman class is great though. They will be able to keep the MIAC great. Mueller is the best of all time, and people behind him like the people from Carleton, Olaf and Gustavus like Stumbo, Kerbeshian, Jama, and Wilkinson. The future is bright. The MIAC will be stacked in the next few years. Others in the mid-d are great too!
DCG and JCG were both sick, so other than the mile neither raced all weekend. If they were both healthy and run to full potential, the Knights come very close to the Tommies. Oh, what could have been
Hmmmmmmmm...
600: Krogman (SMU) beat Mueller (UST) by .07 seconds.
800: Krogman (SMU) beat Kozlowski (UST) by .03 seconds.
1000: Mueller (CAR) beat Wachter (UST) by .31 seconds
St Thomas was 0.41 seconds from a middle-distance sweep.
Krogman was NASTY! This man is a dime on the track.
Obviously L. Mueller is too Nasty as well...

Missed bell? What happened?
There was an issue with counting laps in the 5k. They rang the bell a lap early for Mueller. This basically allowed Wilkinson to nip Mueller at the line, and Mueller had a big lead. Stumbo actually stopped a lap short and had to be told he had another to go.
Slowly uploading all the MIAC vids, most will be up by the end of tonight. Yep, they rang it with Mueller having two laps to go, and it messed up a lot of people actually, as you can see at the end of the video. Stumbo, PT, Buchmeier, and Mehrhof got faked out and stopped briefly but finished it up, and Rosenau just didn't do that last lap. Pretty frustrating.
Must be odd to be a guy athlete for St. Thomas. Unless you're one of the two jumpers and decathlete who actually won their event, no one else won anything..BUT, they won the team competition as a whole. I wonder if that makes up for it?

I mean if you got 8th place you still helped. That's like saying eveyone but the highest scorer in a basketball game should feel less accomplished about a championship win.
Lots of people didn't win. wrote:

I like this logic, but to counter, track is mainly an individual sport depending on how you look at it. The basketball reference makes sense, but the whole goal is for the team to win. Is that necessarily the case in track? Again, it can go either way depending on how you argue it.
Unless you won a relay, I would argue that winning a team title, especially a team title that you are almost guaranteed to win, is not as satisfying/impressive as winning an individual event
Then again, I've never won a team title. so what do I know?
St.Thomas definitely prioritizes winning the team title more than anything. It’s not impressive to win a title that you’re nearly guaranteed to win, but what is impressive is to win the title 34 years in a row, even without many standout performers.
