Some predictions now that heat sheets are out:
10,000
1. Tris Dodge
2. Lucas Mueller
3. Thomas Lerdall
4. Tremayne Collins
5. Tyler Bethke
6. Andrew Stumbo
7. Andrew Fritz
8. Jake Lepak
Darkhorse: Paul Timm
Dodge has had a great season, and I think he caps it off with his first MIAC title. Obviously, Mueller has shown up in championship races and could certainly take the win as well, and although Lerdall’s had a pretty quiet season he definitely has the ability to be up with the Carls. We all know Collins has been putting in the miles, and I think they’ll pay off. Bethke, Stumbo, and Fritz could be in the mix as well, and the tight pack of underclassmen with Colleran, Lepak, and Kneeskern will be interesting to watch. PT’s had a tough season, but it’s tough to completely rule out last year’s runner-up.
5,000
1. Lucas Mueller
2. Matthew Wilkinson
3. Tris Dodge
4. Elliot Kadrofske
5. Keith Ketola
6. Karl Wachter
7. Andrew Stumbo
8. Thomas Lerdall
Darkhorse: Scott Helstad
The Carls should be able to control this one, any combination of those top three is possible. I’m putting Kadrofske 4th because of his consistency throughout the season and the fact that he’ll be fresh unlike the rest of the field. Ketola and Wachter should be able to take advantage if it goes out slow. Stumbo certainly has the potential to crack the top five. Lerdall didn’t do great doubling at indoor conference, so I’ll put him 8th.
3000S
1. Parker Rosenau
2. Matthew Wilkinson
3. Anders Rasmussen
4. Matthew Burgstahler
5. Austin O’Hare
6. Eric Bakken
7. Dan Buchmeier
8. Justin Furcich
Darkhorse: Hiroshi Nakajima
I’ll take Rosenau, but it’ll be tight between him and Wilkinson. O’Hare has the talent and experience to be right up there with them, but seems to be banged up this season, and Rasmussen and Burgstahler should be able to take advantage. The Olaf trio is anyone’s guess; Bakken looked strong at indoor conference and in his last steeple so I’ll go with him.
1500
1. DCG
2. Keith Ketola
3. Karl Wachter
4. Sean Lonergan
5. Ezekiel Lelinga
6. Frank Gustafson
7. Bridger Pavelka
8. William Anderson
Darkhorse: Chris Boranian
Donson should run away with this one, and Ketola, Wachter, and Lonergan will separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Lelinga and Pavelka had breakout races a few weeks ago and have more to prove. Anderson’s been pretty inconsistent lately, but has the talent to place higher than 8th. Boranian hasn’t had the best season but is experienced, placing Top 10 in the 1500 the last 2 years.
800
1. DCG
2. Evan Hatton
3. Brandon Krogman
4. JCG
5. Carl Kozlowski
6. Sam Jewson
7. Nolan Ebner
8. Ben Madigan
Darkh0rse: Taylor Huffman
Again, this is Donson’s race to lose. Hatton, Krogman, and Joey will likely duke it out for 2nd, although Kozlowski has looked strong lately and shouldn’t be counted out. Taylor Huffman has improved drastically this season and will be looking to keep that going.
4x8
*I’ve done my best to predict who will be running, but that’s always a crapshoot.
1. Carleton: DCG+JCG+Sikes+Brusilow
After Brusilow’s big PR in the 800, it’s hard to imagine Carleton not stacking. This team could definitely dip under 7:40, something no one else can touch.
2. Bethel: Hatton+T. Huffman+Lelinga+Wahlstedt
If Bethel stacks and Carleton doesn’t, they have a great shot to win.
3. St. Olaf: Lonergan+Herman+Primozich+L. Getzloff
Herman and Getzloff aren’t entered in open events, so assuming they’re healthy, they will be fresh for the 4x8. Although Olaf has plenty of guys who could pop off a 1:58 split, they need Lonergan to run if they want top 3.
4. St. Thomas: Kozlowski+Kiley+Palyan+Carl
With Kozlowski the Tommies have a good shot at 3rd. Without him, they still have the depth to get top 5.
5. St. John’s: Lamb+Webb+Houseman+Stanek
The Johnnies always seem to do well in relays. Very possible that Burgstahler runs, which gives them a boost.
Gustavus and Hamline have the potential to put together pretty good teams as well, but I don’t see either of them cracking top 5.

Only thing I'll point out is that Ketola took down the Carls at the Macalester 5k. Mueller and Dodge will both have a 10k in their legs while Ketola will only have had the 1500. I think Ketola should be able to contest for the win in this one.
Wachter did the same thing at Macalester, finishing a second behind Ketola. I could see them both breezing by the Carleton freshman who, late into the season, are looking incredibly mortal compared to indoor.

My guess is Ketola will also have an 800 in his legs, but a sit and kick 1500 prelim and a 4x8 leg shouldn't take took much out of him for day 2.
I wouldn't gaurantee Wilkinson as top 3 in the 5k either. He'll also have done the steeple earlier that day, which is definitely one of the harder doubles.
Let's not forget that St. Mary's doesn't have WIFI
All great points. The Carleton freshmen were impressive with their doubling/quadrupling during indoor, but they're certainly looking more and more beatable lately. Every race should be interesting from start to finish.
10k
1. Tris Dodge, Carleton
2. Lucas Mueller, Carleton
3. Thomas Lerdall, St. Olaf
4. Tremayne Collins, St. John’s
5. Andrew Stumbo, Gustavus
6. Andrew Fritz, St. Thomas
7. Tyler Bethke, Bethel
8. Christopher Brenk, St. Olaf
I think Dodge and Mueller could go either way. I picked Dodge because Mueller seems to be struggling more from overracing. Lerdall is clearly the best of the rest of the field. I picked Collins for 4th because he has more experience and the Johnnies tend to peak well for outdoor MIAC, but I could see Stumbo finishing 4th as well.
Steeple
1 Matthew Wilkinson, Carleton
2. Parker Rosenau, St. Thomas
3. Austin O’Hare, St. Mary’s
4. Matthew Burgstahler, St. John’s
5. Anders Rasmussen, Bethel
6. Dan Buchmeier, St. Olaf
7. Justin Furcich, St. Olaf
8. James Mathison, St. John’s
I could see Wilkinson, Rosenau, or O’Hare winning, but O’Hare hasn’t been healthy and I think Wilkinson will win if it comes down to a kick. Burgstahler is the most experienced of the rest of the field, but Rasmussen should also be in the mix for 3rd-4th.
1500m
1. Donson Cook-Gallardo, Carleton
2. Keith Ketola, St. Olaf
3. Sean Lonergan, St. Olaf
4. Karl Wachter, St. Thomas
5. Frank Gustafson, Hamline
6. William Anderson, St. Olaf
7. Liban Jama, St. Olaf
8. Ezekiel Lelinga, Bethel
I don’t see any reason to change my predictions from last week:
Donson and Ketola are clearly 1-2, after that it should be interesting. Lonergan, Wachter, and Gustafson all have run good times and have great speed. Anderson could be pushing for top 3 as well, but he has been inconsistent in the past. Jama and Lelinga have run well this spring, but haven’t proven that they can perform well in a tactical race. If Mueller runs, I would guess that he would finish 3rd.
800m
1. Donson Cook-Gallardo, Carleton
2. Brandon Krogman, St. Mary’s
3. Evan Hatton, Bethel
4. Nolan Ebner, Macalester
5. Joey Cook-Gallardo, Carleton
6. Sam Jewson, Hamline
7. Carl Kozlowski, St. Thomas
8. Ben Madigan, Gustavus
The only change I made to my previous predictions was moving Ebner and JCG above Jewson. They both ran very well at Hamline last weekend, and I could see them battling for 2nd.
5k
1. Tris Dodge, Carleton
2. Keith Ketola, St. Olaf
3. Lucas Mueller, Carleton
4. Elliot Kadrofske, St. Olaf
5. Karl Wachter, St. Thomas
6. Matthew Wilkinson, Carleton
7. Thomas Lerdall, St. Olaf
8. Scott Helstad, St. Thomas
The only change I made to my predictions was replacing Gilbertson with Helstad. I could see the top 3 finishing in any order. Kadrofske will benefit from being fresh, and if the top 3 struggle or choose to not race, he could win. Cameron Meikle coming off of an injury could be a dark horse.
4x800
1. Carleton (DCG-JCG-Sikes-Brusilow)
2. Bethel (Hatton-THuffman-Lelinga-Wahlstedt)
3. St. Thomas (Kozlowski-Kiley-Palyan-Carl)
4. St. Olaf (Herman-Primozich-Getzloff-Sokolowski)
5. Gustavus (Gustafson-Madigan-Verchota-Sandberg)
6. St. John’s (Lamb-Webb-Houseman-Jackson)
7. Hamline (Jewson-Born-Roen-Lorah)
8. Concordia (Supinski-Solheim-Isahak-Haugrud)

Hi ShittySpielberg,
Just wanted to say that I'm your number 1 fan. Good luck tomorrow
Official: In the case of extreme weather tomorrow (rain, lightning, hail), the distance races (1500 and 10,000 meters) will be combined, where participants will race a distance of 5,500 meters (1 heat). Sprints will be held in the 50 meter stretch of track inside of the stadium building (2 down and backs for 100 meters, 4 for 200 meters). Javelin will be held inside of the gymnasium.
Looking like its gonna be one for the record books!
15 prelims please
Quick word of advice given the weather: Whatever you do, take care of your shoes
Bad boy Donny reportedly physically shoved Hamline runner in 800 heat 1 out to lane 4 at behest of coach. Shitty move. Also apparently didn't let same Hamline runner pass, would move to cut him off every time an effort was made.
Hot take on the 10k
1. Paul timm (27:45 winning time)
2. Tris dodge
3.lucas mueller
4. Matt Wilkinson
5. Tremayne Collins
6 Andrew stumbo

10. Thomas lerdall
Dark horse: Cameron meikle

Can confirm. Panamanian collusion in that first heat between the carleton runners
Important Update: St. Mary’s has begun work on obtaining WIFI. More information to come.
Good job @frogs carl
