just out of high school; I realized my parents didn't care about helping with college so I had to save like crazy to fund it; part-time/piece meal jobs. Being thrifty has stuck for the rest of my life. I'm not very smart, but just enough to know to be very careful with money. A comfortable retirement off a very modest income will be possible next year because of that.
I actually care less about money the older I get.
You do the things that you want within and your means and then you die some day.
