Webb Vs. Ritz in a 5k right now. Who wins?
Webb Vs. Ritz in a 5k right now. Who wins?
I like Ritz in about 13:32, Torres runs 13:35...
I don't think Ritz is a better runner than Webb right now in a 5K track race. From his recent performances, Ritz just doesn't have the raw leg speed to run under 13:30 right now. In the right paced race I think Webb could hit 13:25 right now. I think a Ritz v. Webb 5K right now would be really, really ugly over the last 600m. I just can't see Ritz being able to handle the speed of sub-4:20 pace at this point in his season. Unless he seriously underpreformed in Carlsbad, it'll be 13:36-13:31 Saturday night.
While I was surpised that some people were saying Ritz would kill Torres, I am equally surprised some are saying Ritz will only run 13:30's. he can't break 13:30?? I think he will be REALLY PISSED if he can't do that.
You people really don't think Ritz can run what Winthrow just ran?? Or what Rupp would be hoping to run (low 13:30's sometime this year)? Or what Hall recently ran?
Ritz will run 13:25, but Torres will beat him.
I'm guessing you weren't at Penn to see Webb run the 5k. He had to set the pace himself and swing out wide to lap quite a few runners and he still really turned it on at the end. There is NO WAY he couldn't go under 13:20 in the right race, I think he would have a shot at 13:10 if he gives himself the chance.
Who else is running in this? No one probably cares...
Ritz 13:29
Torres 13:31
Ritz will do just well enough to one up Webb.
Do you think that Winthrow could run 13:48 at Carlsbad? I think that 13:48 would be a very accurate prediction for Winthrow. Yes, I think Ritz will be very pissed about his time this Saturday, because I think Hudson must have him thinking that he is a 13:10-guy and he most certainly is not right now. Ritz ran 13:48 at Carlsbad and Mottram ran 13:20. If the conversion from Carlsbad to even-paced rabbit race on the track is say 12 seconds (and I think that this is accurate, I doubt that Mottram was in any shape better than 13:05-08) than Ritz was about 13:36 shape. Now, that's a really rough way to estimate things, but until Ritz comes out under Hudson and shows that he is a really, really fast dude, I am not going to give him too much credit. I just don't believe in Ritz with Hudson at the helm until I see it.
I would put Webb anywhere from 13:25 down to maybe 13:20. I don't care how easy he made Penn look, when you start talking 13:19 and below you are talking about some serious racing. 13:16 would be amazing, 13:10 would be unreal. That being said, if any US guy besides Lagat is going to go under 13:10 in the next four years, it'll be Webb.
Torres is a much better 5k runner. If Ritz beats him over 5k i think that spells trouble for him.
Torres 13:37
Ritz 13:42
Rupp 29:52
Torres 13:21
Ritz 13:23
Torres by a little bit but i say Ritz has a better season and runs well in the world-champs. 13:24 to 13:25
Torres will win.
Torres: 13:33.38
Ritz: 13:33.41
Why is Torres even running 5K's? Me thinks he should be doing 10K's as this plays into his strength.
Anyway, Torres- 13:35, Ritz- 13:29 I doubt either will run world leading times at this juncture.
Silverback - What about Broe???? He dropped 4 secs to get to 13:18 last year. Still much room for improvement.
I don't think there is much room for impovement actually. Broe is 28 and his mile PR is 358, almost 359 I think. His body has been just mutilated with injuries over the past 2 years. I could see him get to maybe 13:14-13:16 this year or maybe next, but I just can't see this guy ripping off a 13:09 down the road. You're talking 9 more seconds off his PR right now. BK went from 13:22 to sub13:10 over a three year span with a mile PR at the time of 3:56 and a then-3K PR of 7:33. Broe is going to have to discover a 3:55 miling ability to get down under Goucher's best and in sub13:10 range.
RITZ WILL RUN TORRES INTO THE GROUND!!!!!
HE IS STRONGER, FASTER, AND BETTER. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. JORGE IS OLD NEWS.
Right on TRU DAT ...hilarious. Ritz will win in around 13:20. Torres will be 7-10 seconds back.
Ritz will win with a time in the middle 13:20s. One possible problem, though: besides the pacesetter, who else in the field will be with Ritz and Torres even after 800?
