What would really take guts is to protest mixing nationalism and sports on the merit of how lame that is alone.
Fortunately the giants don't agree with you and don't buy Beckham's later fabricated excuse that it was about Trump. You bought that line, but it doesn't match his initial explanation.
Classless is classless regardless whether its the 60's or now.
New York Giants co-owner John Mara said Tuesday that he isn't happy about wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s touchdown celebration in which he simulated a dog urinating. Mara said the team would deal with the matter "internally."
Mara made his comments in an email sent to multiple media outlets.

OBJ says dog TD celebration related to Trump
A day after saying 'I'm a dog, so I acted like a dog' to explain his touchdown celebration where he simulated urinating on the field, Odell Beckham Jr. changed his tune on social media, now suggesting it was related to President Trump's comments.
Eagles to 'file away' memory of OBJ celebration
The Eagles will "file away" Odell Beckham Jr.'s odd touchdown celebration on Sunday, said coach Doug Pederson, who called the Giants wide receiver's simulation of a dog urinating on the field "unfortunate."
He wrote: "I do not want to get into a discussion about this, but I will say that I am very unhappy with Odell's behavior on Sunday and we intend to deal with it internally."
I am so freaking sick of all this total nonsense about whether or not NFL players should stand, kneel, sit, roll over or play dead during the playing of the National Anthem. No matter what happens people are going to have their own biased opinion of what is right or wrong and, quite frankly, every argument on both sides of the issue will have some merit.
But let's start using a little !@#$% common sense and do the easiest thing to end the ridiculous debate. Stop. Playing. The. National. Anthem. Before. The. Freaking. Games....PERIOD!!!
Unless it's an international competition (e.g. Olympics) where the athletes literally are representing the USA, there is no freaking reason why the National Anthem needs to be played before a sporting event. None. Zero. Nada. Donuts. It's not in the Constitution. It's not a law. It's not a tradition that can't be easily and prudently broken.
These are freaking GAMES, people. They are NOT organized gatherings intended to display patriotism!
And let's face it; half the hill-jacks who are ripping the players for kneeling probably aren't standing at attention for the Anthem anyway. They're probably standing in the beer line or shaking it at the urinal.
Villanueva's jersey became the best selling NFL jersey overnight. Now I'll bet his jersey sets a record for the most returned item they ever sold, with most of the packages having never been opened. He should have stuck by the flag and all the good Americans who had his back. His team, the NFL, and all the liberals won't help him going forward. He's in no man's land now.
He chose the wrong side.

Mr. Villanueva is the honorable type that doesn't consult polling to determine what he will do. He does what is right, even if what is right is unpopular. It's a shame people like you will never understand that.

The Disco Kid understands one thing and one thing only - He is a victim and he's not going to take it anymore!
Racism is so American that when we protest racism the average American assumes we're protesting America. Yawn.
Simmer down with your racism, you just got a new gig...

Alejandro likely doesn't recognize peer pressure. He served and could care less what a bunch of snigglettes protest.
Tomlin should apologize to his player. The player served as a Ranger for three tours in Afghanistan. To ask a soldier to compromise his values is low especially coming from a coach who has not served. The coach should stick to coaching and stay out of politics and making statements that aren't related to the business of winning on the football field.

Except for the fact that Tomlin never asked his player to compromise his values.
Other than that minor detail, you've got a really cool story going there! Keep it up!
Except it isn't the NTL (National Tomlin League). He's an employee and the NFL honors America before games by playing the National Anthem. His confusing actions resulted in a veteran being placed in a position of conflict. A good coach can make a mistake and he did in this case. Stick to coaching.

Hahahahaha !!! So let me get this straight a man who has served our country courageously was a hero **only** ( apparently in your book ) because he stood for the national anthem while teammates did not, but now this same courageous Soldier who fought for America is no longer a hero but is instead a disgusting traitor because he says he regrets standing ** without his teammates** ???? ( he never said he regrets standing he said he will always stand for the anthem ). Wow are you demented! One misinterpreted headline and you completely turn your back on him and slander him!
This is generally the right-wing Republican racist viewpoint: it doesn't matter what you've done for our country ,what you've done for the conservative or religious or white power agenda in the past, if you're not a hundred percent pure and toe the line on all issues, you are excommunicated from the racist right-wing Society/club.
Glad I could come back and see that ex thrower is still demonstrating his severe brain damage from the many shot puts he took to the Head during his throwing years.

In my history with watching and supporting some of the greatest sports figures I can't imagine someone like a Joe Montana pretending to pee on the field. They had way too much dignity and class. I liked that.
I guess its different for you.....
______
Actually there are many many of today's sport heroes with both class and dignity. They would not be pretending to piss on the field. Dignity is not just a 60's thing.
I very much appreciate the athletes of today who do hold themselves with dignity.
OBJ proved himself to be classless. It may not matter to you, but some of us still expect better.
And on another issue, just because I think Trump would be better for our country than Hillary, I don't for a minute condone his classless comments.
But that discussion is for a different thread.
.
More absolute hilarity. So you demand class and dignity
From your professional football heroes, whose job is to, more or less, beat the living crap out of their opponent, but you do not demand even a hint of that same class or dignity from the leader of your country?!?! You may claim to not condone Trumps ENDLESS flow of classless and undignified comments, but you certainly are not up in arms about it in the same way you are about OBJ's actions.
Talk about looking foolish. Wave the white flag, change your name and move on. You've lost this debate.

Lesson 1 in how to spot a simpleton: they see everything as "us" vs. "them" in their primitive fantasy world.
Actually I brought Trumps classless talk into this discussion. I was pretty clear that I would in no way excuse or condone this from our president. What don't you understand?

Trump hates NFL players more than he does KKKers and white supremacists! He calles NFL players SOBs, but he has no such words for the KKK. Racist coward!!
I didn't bring up Beckham but I responded to poster who thought what he did was appropriate and funny. I focused on Beckham because that was the subtopic of the thread. As far as Trump, yes he is flawed. Do you remember how popular Bill Clinton was at the end of his presidency? He was terribly flawed but that didn't mean that many liberals didn't support him and his political positions.I don't like many of the things Trump says. But sometimes you need an A-hole to make the changes that need to be made. (medicaid in its current form is killing this nation)

Thise of you who demand obediance at perfunctory events have no notion of respect, and little idea about liberty. You mistake obeisance for loyalty. Your idea of patriotism is shabby. You also demand a lot from sectors of America that were enslaved. Meanwhile, you are about to become economic slaves to China, the place where your President's cozy business relations are kept all so secret. It is all actually quite funny. Keep up with your "football" politics while the rest of the world moves on with the post-American era.
