Good for them winning Roy Griak and being highly ranked, but the entire top 7 consists of foreigners who are mostly if not entirely overaged by US college standards. This would probably get more attention if they were East African, but in this case these women are all European (British, German, Swedish, French and Polish, I believe). I'm a Bay Area local and normally would be thrilled to see USF doing well, but this just feel like a team of overaged, overseas ringers. Sorry, not for me. And, to be clear, for me the overaged thing is just as problematic as where they're from.
And, no, I'm not a right-wing Trump supporter. I don't have any problem with immigration and think it's a huge benefit to our country and economy, but that doesn't mean I have to cheer for a US college team with this kind of roster. Feels like cheating.
USF women's XC team is hard to like

Hey local Bay Area guy take what you can always attach your fan self to CAL
-
I'll never understand the age complaints myself. It sounds so high school.
-
I understand where you're coming from, but they're probably never going to be good relying on Americans, so I think it's fun to have a good team in the area, in addition to Stanford.

Cry me a river...

Dear Mr. Sanctuary City,
I voted for Trump. I don't care about their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation. I only care that USF did not cheat and they are here legally and accounted for. It must be difficult telling everyone how tolerant you are - except that you really aren't. Enjoy your evening.
Sincerely,

Fast, runner babes from all over the world? Sounds like my ultimate fantasy. Wowza!
-
Did you check the ages of these young athletes and their remaining eligibility before you wrote about said foreigners?
-
They look easy to like.
-
Sounds like the second coming of Lobo-mania 2015 , although not quite as cute.
-
will include an aussie next year! Not cheating the school is recruiting! Now the overage issue well that could be looked at. I went to school with foreigners and it was a fantastic experience.
-
This has been going on a while, and it's not unusual. I believe T&F News (or as similar source) said that 25% of the athletes at the NCAA D1 national championships this year were international students. This happens in other sports too (college tennis comes to mind).

As a San Francisco alum (class of 1973), I am just amazed that the team has gotten good enough to be the subject of criticism. Go Dons!

As someone who has been near to the program and seen it in different phases- I can certainly understand how anyone might feel like they would root harder for a homegrown team. That said- that is not what the school is about or the city for that matter. Diversity is key to the beauty of the city and is synonymous with the university, both academically and athletically. I'm not saying that recruiting 100% international is the mission statement- it's just what is being attracted to the school and program currently.
I don't agree with your stance, but won't give you grief for having one.
We can both have separate opinions and coexist.
Cheers
