I’ve recently started drinking a small black coffee just 2 or 3 days a week. Sometimes before my run in the morning. Sometimes after. I love the taste. It gives me an energy boost. Puts me in a better mood at work.
But I’m hesitant to drink too much because I know it can be addictive. Is it unhealthy to drink some everyday? Should I keep it to 2-3 days per week?
I went through a period in my life where I was hooked badly on 5 hour energy. I finally dropped the habit and started feeling much better. I developed a dependency on it and my energy levels were a lot less stable. I know coffee is not exactly the same but should I be worried?
Grandparents introduced me to coffee in early childhood. I'd drink it with my grandfather randomly, and I loved it. I didn't know that was the caffeine talking to me lol. I began regularly drinking coffee around 14. Friends joked with me in HS, they never saw me come to school without it. Almost 20 years later, I still enjoy some morning coffee, and ever so randomly, an afternoon joe. Usually during the winter after a weekend long run.
I def try and avoid caffeine in the PM hours during the summer, and I am a lot more particular to my source of coffee after a really weird reaction I had to Sheetz coffee 3 years ago. I felt really sick the rest of the day and later on in the evening, shortly after dinner I broke it in a sweat and thought I was going to pass out, I got very nauseous. My sister who's a nurse checked me out, my pulse and rhythm sounded fine she said, likely a weird reaction or bug. I don't know what it was that day with the coffee, but I've become more mindful. Only time that's luckily ever happened.
