Where did the official weekly rankings go? Paging Tommy
Top 3 teams from 2016:
Oregon: They return 6 out of their top 7 from their team that dominated Hershey. They lose Andre Walker who was 4th overall and 2nd on their team. No times with the Pacific Regional so its hard to tell the spread or compare to times from last year. They have to be the favorite going in.
Cal Davis: They were beaten by Oregon at the Pacific Regional and it looks like they will not be bringing their 4 and 5 runners from that race to Nationals. In addition, their 2nd and 3rd runners from Nationals last year will not be back. Kwan and McConnell look to be in the mix up front.
Penn State: They lose 3 from their top 5 (Sell, Petrosky, and Lacy). However, they appear to have reloaded. Earlier in the season at the Nittany Lion Invite their top 5 averaged 26:04 with 6 and 7 runners not far back. Is this course fast or what? No results from the MidAtlantic Regional as noted earlier in this thread, but at the Nittany Lion Invite they did beat Princeton and some of the other MidAtlantic Clubs.
Others:
Based on regional results, Iowa State and Purdue look to be strong going in. Iowa State dominated the Great Plains Regional with 22pts, a 26:30 average and a 1-5 spread of 1:00. Purdue won the Great Lakes Regional over Indiana, 43 points to 56, with a 26:22 average and a nice1-5 spread of 39s.
Besides the teams listed are there any other teams that can mix it up for the team title?
Roster for nats here:
Anyone else remember the East Lansing course being measured as too long when they held Nats 3 years ago?
It's the same course that's used for the Spartan invitational, so it'll be fine. It may have been different a couple of years ago though, I don't know
How would you know they won't go to nationals, and that last year's Cal Poly nationals team wasn't top 5 unless you're associated with the Cal Poly club team yourself? I hope the rest of your club isn't as arrogant.
Try harder to make it less obvious next time bud.
I think the course that year was legit. It was just super soft so times were slow.
Purdue and Penn State are non-factors. The only 3 in the mix are Oregon, UC Davis and Iowa State. Pretty annoying that Cal Poly isn't coming again.
I'd watch out for Miami of Ohio's Robby Alexander. If he's anywhere near the leaders at the end he'll take it. I've heard this Robby guy has a hell of a kick. I think he's more of an 800/1500m guy though.

Speaking of IU, why was a professional runner not enrolled with the university allowed to score in a regional championship? Wake up sheeple.

after reading the preview I saw that Flahrety actually won NIRCA in 2008.
Which means this year's seniors were in 7th grade at the time.

Unofficial men's championship results:
http://my-finish.com/teamStandings.php?race_name=nirca17&division_id=3Good call purse. I'm surprised how poorly Oregon and Davis ran. Really would have been nice to see their times from regionals. Both teams were overrated coming in.
Oregon hardly put 1 in the top 10 after putting 4 in the top 10 last year and returning 6/7.
