I'll bite... millennial married to a millennial here,
We both quit our full time jobs almost a year ago now to travel. We plan to continue traveling for at least another year.
We are not rich - upper middle class growing up but we both graduated with student loan debt (although only about 20k between the two of us)
Parents have contributed zero $$ to the travel fund. We paid off our loans by not buying anything dumb like a car and living with roommates (as a married couple) and saved up enough for a downpayment before we left (~40k). We both work about 15 hours a week on the road. One in tech, one in engineering.
To answer a couple other questions I've seen in this thread: for healthcare, we pay for Obamacare (~400+ a month). If an emergency were to happen, we'd be screwed, but we figure pretty much anyone else would be as well. We don't go to the doctor.
For retirement, we had 401ks and now we have IRAs. We don't contribute much, but it's better than nothing. I plan on probably working a little bit till the end... who knows what the future holds.
As far as a house, our savings have barely dipped beyond what we started with so we'll figure it out later. Probably one of us will get a 'real' job.
Kids? We're planning on having just one after we get a house.
If you have other question's I'd be happy to answer. You have to be willing to make some sacrifices in terms of stability, but... YOLO ¯_(ツ)_/¯
