The race was won in the fourth fastest time ever in 58:40. Three men under 59 minutes, five under Mo's PR of 59:32, seven under one hour.
He can demand that money for the credentials he brings to the race. It won't last forever if he can't maintain his form, but right now his achievements deserve top $.
As for being hungry, I'd say one should look at the way he fought in his last two track races. He never quit for a second in the World Championship 5000m when he looked well-beaten, and fought like a demon to win his last track race. He had to be feeling the World Champs 10000m - the fastest ever in championship - in the World 5000m, and the cumulative wear of the season in his last race.
Why would I get nervous ?

Yes, we all know that the most talented endurance runners go straight to the road curcuit these days, that's where you can make money by being top 25-50 in the worlds. Stay on the track for the 10000 and you have to be the number 1, or pretty much pay for it out of your own (sponsors) pockets).
All the top 7-10 guys in Copenhagen could have been at Worlds 10000 without embarassing themselves (and when the Hell is IAAF gonna get their thumb out of their asses and add the HM to the WC anyway???)

Because that's what champions do.

Because people who break 59 run it. Oops I forgot we live in the 2000s where people don't care about true competition.
So that wasn't Mo racing Haile and Kenny at GNR, or all the stars at the London marathon, or Kamworor in the world half?
