The thread is "What T&F WR is most impressive". Beamon would have a chance if it were "What T&F former WR was most impressive" but for current records it has to be Komen (choose from 3,000 or 2miles).
The thread's title "What T&F WR is most impressive" can just as easily be taken as meaning "What T&F WR (ever) is most impressive" as it could "What T&F WR (current) is most impressive". That's why I suggested a couple of former WRs earlier on. You could also argue that Beamon's record is more impressive than Powell's because it was so far ahead of everyone else at the time, and because it lasted for so long.
Although athletics is great because it produces measureable performances there is still room for debate when we consider the context in which performances took place.
