O.P.,
As I was reading his comment, I was thinking of my response, which was almost word for word what you wrote as a response.
"You haven't been looking for it."
The problem here is people search for content that satisfies the answers they hope to find and ignores everything else. We all do it. I am a little guilty of it too.
But I have spent about a year reading the science (some of which is painful for me to read and to fully understand) and I have watched many scientists on YouTube with their seminars and Ted Talks et al....I have also Googled such phrases as:
"Why Ketogenic diets are bad" and other similarly-phrased sentences, so I can have a balanced perspective. Although I think there are some arrogant Ketogenicized scientists and some assumptive premature "findings" "hypothesis" etc etc, there is enough evidence here to lean towards to a low-carb/high-fat diet.
I am not so sure I want to be in ketosis all the time as you apparently end up stopping the ketosis when you have carbs and I like my craft beer. Also, as mentioned before, I am not sure I want to run uphill spewing lactic acid having a hampered VO2max.
But I will be continuing LCHF at the very least.
Also, the science community is working on whether it is true that Ketogenic diets help Alzheimers and Parkinson's sufferers as well as some skin conditions and apparently some cancers.
To the person who wrote, "meat diet". Please consider doing some research before chiming in with your misinformed opinion. I probably eat less meat now than when I was CHO-heavy. I have had some massive salads - with above ground veggies as recommended.
And there is some science suggesting that dense LDL cholesterol (the worst) rises with fats + CHO, but balances with fats and low CHO.
For sure refined carbs are a major health concern. The first-world government food guides have all looked similar; grains.and carb-containing foods is the bulk of the diet. Correlation to all this coronary artery disease, obesity, and diabetes? It really looks like carbs are very much the hot smoking gun.
