That top 5 will make up the podium in some combination. Dreaming of an American sweep, but I think it could be Killian, Bowman, Tollefson just as easily.
1 4 François D'HAENE France SE H 12:04:26 La Fouly - Sa. 06:36:38 Champex Lac - Sa. 08:07
2 1 Jim WALMSLEY United States SE H 12:09:51 La Fouly - Sa. 06:40:19
Francois looked strong coming through... Jim is looking rough. Either very cold or his stomach is going.
Killian came in looking strong and Jim said he is going to take some time.
He's resigned to not winning. I'm rooting for a third place finish, but with 55k to go, I fear he may not finish.
1 4 François D'HAENE France SE H 12:04:26 La Fouly - Sa. 06:36:38 Champex Lac - Sa. 08:07
2 1 Jim WALMSLEY United States SE H 12:09:51 La Fouly - Sa. 06:40:19 -
3 2 Kilian JORNET BURGADA Spain SE H 12:12:40 La Fouly - Sa. 06:43:53 Champex Lac - Sa. 08:17
Still 7 or 8 hours of running left. A LOT can and will happen.
Walmsey crumbling predictably...ten minutes between D'haene and Kilian, then 15 minutes back to Jim.
Bummer. He is toast.

It's a shame. He is clearly talented, but can't seem to mentally handle the grind and ups and downs of 10+ hours of running. Everyone is going to have low spots that suck. You can't throw in the towel. You never know what will happen and you can bounce back. Just look at Ludo last year.
Ludo had his problems early last year, was patient, and methodically worked his way forward. Jim is just replaying his Western States script.Tollefson looking like a podium now.

Walmsley's a gazelle, but he's not physically prepared for the long slow slogs over mountains and extended distances. Mentally he's definitely in great shape.
This will be over around the time I get up.

Said 'Everyone was going so slow.' Kilian said, 'No, everyone is going fast.'
Looks like Sage is done, just hit grand col ferret half an hour after the leaders hit champex lac. If you're not in Champex lac to make a move its just not gonna happen.
JW close to DNF again.
100M are not his thing, he should stick to shorter stuff and demolish It like Joseph Gray. I don't get people still saying we should respect him for 'trying'. Going off all out in a 100 miler is dumb and just does not work. Whoever said he's a head case is spot on, this guy needs a manager at least.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
