The Kenyans did good to actually practice steeple form this year.
Sadly they failed to practice counting laps.
I have faith they'll get it together and challenge for gold in 2019.

Coburn peaked for the World Championship and won. Last year she got Bronze at the Olympics. Both were with fast times. She seems to do better with a semi final and this is probably a side effect of the Africans having less efficient hurdling and water jumps. They can run faster, but wear themselves out. When they get to the final, they have used more energy while Coburn and Frerichs were ready to run PRs and CRs.
Intense focus was put into that one race. When it is over, it is very difficult to get up mentally for more racing, but money can be made doing it so walking away is not such an easy option even if the mind is not in the game anymore. Those who have something more to prove are more likely to get up for the later races. This is very common.
What more does she need to prove to anybody, especially a bunch on anonymous LetsRun Posers.

why they cant continue to do this , is the bigger question

Elaine Thompson and Ruth Jebet are the most obvious figures that fit this description. Just too suspicious.
Centro won World Indoor gold as well as World outdoor silver and bronze.
Coburn was the best on the day after rounds. There are no rounds in the Diamond League. The Olympics and World Championships are the only competitions where everyone targets them their entire season, their entire career really, and everyone tapers for that competition. Diamond League is quite different. You have the money chasers going after paced times in one off competition where the testing is not nearly as serious and the competitors cannot just fly from their non-drug tested countries, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, to compete. They actually have to go off the drugs for one to two weeks pre-competition for the long world and Olympic comp.
As for Centro, despite being unhealthy all year, he managed to crush Mo Farah in the 1500m during his one period of health this year. He'd have been tough at World's in that kind of race.
Just hearing Emma's name causes me to beat.
Meanwhile, Chespol finished behind Coburn again, after basically quitting with 600 meters to run in London. Somehow her issues are ignored.
We're supposed to excuse Chepkoech for stupidity in London and Jebet for failing to maintain form through two rounds.
No thank you.
Anyone who expected Coburn to fare well in that Diamond League final probably also expected Jager to win the win the world championship. Each were on a one race winning streak. Amazing.
Power ratings don't change appreciably based on one race. Either up or down. But the Happy Adjuster fans can't wait to overreact to everything. I don't mind because that's how I somehow end up with Ayana at +110 to win the 10,000 when it probably should have been closer to -600.
where are south african athletes and makwala based in europe
or not at all . after the worlds also.
is it italy .
