Hangover and heavy legs perhaps , along with not wanting to suffer though a super fast pace = a very lackluster race today

Yeah, she sucked.
Emma won the one that mattered. Jebet is pretty crazy to watch as she throws in a huge surge in the second 1000 of the race (partly because I think she believes she doesn't have a strong enough kick to match some of the other women if it is close at the end). At worlds it ended up costing her a medal as she got swallowed up on the last lap. Great season for Emma (she still gets to carry a championship belt around for 2 years until the next WCs).
Yes, clearly toasted for the year. She should have probably shut it down after the medal. Hope she can maintan focus this upcoming year as she has the ability to go sub 9. Hope is happens. She has worked hard and is fun to watch.
Emma Coburn joins Matthew Centrowitz and Pierre-Ambroise Bosse as one-off global champions who'll never win anything again outside local or regional meets. But they lucked out and won the one that mattered.
Like that Australian speed skater that won gold at the winter Olympics in Turin after a pile up of the favourites ahead of him.
Considering they have other medals at world championships and Olympic games, it is a little insincere to call them one-offs. They won at their respective peaks. What more can one ask for?

Always so sour.
Come on, man. None of the three have won DL or any other international meets.
"...and won the one that mattered. "
Isn't that the point? Surely the aim of any training programme is to get the athlete in peak form for the race that is of greatest importance that season?
If you were a High School coach would you have your runners firing on all cylinders in some inconsequential early season meets and running way below this level when the championships roll round?
Due to the weather, and illness that was going around in London. Her win is definitely a one-off.
Enjoy it. But no way in hell can emma stay with the kenyans in normal conditions.

Coburn has won a Diamond League meet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JipHl1rALzACentrowitz hasn't, but he has Olympic gold and World Championships silver and bronze. Worth a bit more than winning a Diamond League meet.

I can see Jebet being ranked 1 this year, her 8:55 is too good to be ignored. Emma will be either be second or third depending on where Beatrice is ranked.
It really looked like she gave somebody the stink eye as she crossed the line. Did I imagine that?

Yeah, I thought Ksczcsot was going to win that 800 final too!
Good job that Kenyan got lost in London

The only lucky win that I saw was the win by Kipruto in the mens steeple. Now THAT was lucky. Shame the #1 guy Jager was not in form or was sick.
Yeah, no way the Kenyans keep up with Jager in normal conditions. That was a one off.
Instead of "saving it for ..." EC spent it in London. I'm sure she's okay with that decision.

Please don't let actual facts cloud the argument. She also has an Olympic bronze on her wall.
