Centro not making the final for the 1500, and the U.S. women in the 5k.
And Quiglye's DQ.

Also, losing relays is shameful.
You're looking at it the wrong way. The USA teams got the baton around the track in every race. That's an improvement.
The US men had a finalist in all distant events with the exception of the 800. Jager was a pleasant surprise. People just don't remember the bad old days of US distance running. Things were pretty awful in the early 2000s.

At least have the decency to spell the lad's name correct.
Watching a man win the women's 800 sucked.
Kwemboi. Track and the same without doped up Kenyans.
Bolt not winning
Dalilah Muhammad finishing second in the 400 hurdles. Not a terrible effort, but she is capable of so much more.

This. The fact that people (and Jager himself) are disappointed with a bronze in Steeplechase says how well the USA is doing. The USA went thru an period of just being absolutely abysmal at many distance races in the 90's and early 2000s. Now there is disappointment with "only" a bronze medal in a distance where we had never even medaled at since the WCs started in 1983.

What on Earth gave you that idea?
Yeah, she may be past her peak.
Canada's performance was extremely disappointing. From 8 medals in 2015 to 0 in 2017. A dozen athletes made top 8 but no one close to a medal. Everything from acute injury, illness, and men running with women destroyed our medal threats.
The others that bummed me out were mentioned. I will add Keni Harrison's major choking in the women's 100-meter hurdles.

Agree 100%
Time for Gatlin to go. Was fine with Bolt or Coleman or anyone else but Gatlin taking it.
That there was no 5k race walk.
No Makh daddy

Jager came in as the WL and silver medalist. Was 3rd place really a "pleasant surprise"?
Actually, the USA men's team really underperformed on the track. The women's track team carried the day, with a few exceptions. Exceptions for the men were Gatlin and Chelimo - whatever you may think of them they at least performed.
For the men:
200, 400, 110H - zilch, for events where USA has traditionally been dominant.
800, 1500 - nada (ok, I'll give props to Gregorek for at least making the final)
10K, marathon - forget about it
Relays - Ugly
Keni Harrison. I hoped she had overcome her problem with big meet yips.
She's a huge talent and seems like a really nice person, so I hope she figures out how to deal with pressure better.
Jager's bronze was not a disappointment. In retrospect, Jager was just over-hyped because Kipruto's health was uncertain. If Kipruto is healthy, he's the odds on favorite for gold. Maybe Jager could have gotten silver, but in retrospect people should also have taken El Bakkali's 4th place in Rio and recent 8:05 performance in Rabat more seriously
Caster's win in the 800. Women's racing is being destroyed by these kind of results. Create a new category for this group of athletes, or force theme to compete as men.
NBC's terrible coverage. Wish we could choose between NBC or the Brits telecasts.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
