In that incredible 10000m we just watched, he pushed that 61 pace lap to speed up the race, and was in it up until 70 meters to go. He came in 4th place.
He also blazed the RAK Half Marathon earlier in the year.
I think he can become the next great marathoner....

I agree, Mo Farah is not made for the marathons and will quit the sport in two years once he realizes that. He can run pretty well though from half down though.
I'm curious why you people think Mo's continuous asss whooping of these guys is a good indicator that they will be superior marathoners.
Mo's 26:46/59:32 pedigree is pretty stout, and his lone 2:08 marathon was in his slowest year since the magical switch to Alberto.
He'll be fire on the roads soon enough.

I love mo, but bekele played with him like a toy in the Great North Run. Marathon running is a different beast, and he is not skilled at it, and he does not have the experience. He would get murdered going up against guys 2:06 and down.
In Marathon racing, the pace does not go up and down like on the track, where one 400m will go for 61 seconds and the next will go for 66 second. Kenyans will go out at a suicidal pace from the start, and just keep turning it up. IT WILL GET SERIOUS QUICK.
Other than Bekele, KENYANS OWN THE MARATHON. They live for it. They die for it. That is their main concentration of running.
Mo cannot touch them like he kills them on the track, and he knows it. He states it in certain ways, which is why he is not really serious, serious about marathon running. He got of taste of it, and realized that he would not rule that world.

This was one of the most exciting races I've seen in recent memory. The only other races that had me this riled up were Centro in Rio and Bekele in Berlin.

This is the most tired, shitty meme on this site. The race was slow but it was by no means a "disgrace". It was anybody's race between the worlds best 1500m runners. Be a sour bitch all you want, that was one of the most exciting finishes I've seen to a race

He doesn't really "ass whoop" these guys at Half Marathon though. In fact Kamowror has bested him there.
Farah wrecks them on the track because those are shorter events that play more to the strength of his massive anaerobic capacity. Moreover, if you assume that someone like Karoki is in similar 10k shape to Farah...then it's absolutely the case that Karoki is better at half marathon, because a larger contribution to Farah's 10k ability comes from anaerobic work capacity than it does for Karoki. AWC remains the same regardless of the distance, so as the distance goes longer the percentage benefit from AWC drops.
Marathon though is a different beat altogether, because it uses minimal anaerobic capacity, and while aerobic fitness is the #1 player for sure; there are very important questions of fuel utilization and of fatigue resistance in that event.

It's not about being skilled at the marathon. Mo is just not the animal for the marathon. He has run under 3:29 for 1500m. He has incredible speed, and fantastic endurance. That allows him to kick away from guys in tactical long distance track races. His speed limits his ability in the marathon to probably about 2:06, maybe 2:05. Mo will never be a top marathon runner, just like Rudisha will never be a top 1500m runner.
