If he did that to one of my kids his only chance to avoid the death penalty would be going to prison.
Fry him alive.

If you want to kill him yourself, you're quite welcome to. I wouldn't care a jot either way.
If he gets the death penalty, it'll cost a lot of money.
My point is that the death penalty doesn't really have the deterrent effect it's meant to and it's far too expensive to be viable.
In the US it's simply used as a political tool, which despite some of these criminals certainly deserving what they get, seems a bit distasteful to me.
There is no (legal) reason for him to get the death penalty for this. Didn't kill anyone, and very hard to argue pre-meditated attempted murder.

How could someone abouse so many kids before anything was reported? I'm not on this guys side but this is hard to fathom.
Two words: Penn State
This is beyond disturbing. Even worse than this guy:

Or this guy:

Some of them feel justified in spreading the disease to raise awareness for AIDS by intentionally spreading it to people society would feel more sympathy towards. Some blame the government for introducing the HIV virus through a hepatitis vaccine program in the late 70s / early 80s rather than taking responsibility for their own behavior.
Rather than give him the death penalty, they should simply release him on parole with a GPS tracking device that anyone can access. The problem will be solved much quicker and cheaper that way.
Don't care if it's a deterrent or not.
Just think he a) doesn't deserve to live, and b) will use up by tax dollars keeping him alive in jail for the next 30 years.
I'd be ok with a bullet in the ear for this guy.

No. The only purpose the death penalty serves is satisfying an emotional desire for revenge. Of all the human emotions, I don't think it's a good idea to humor vengefulness.
The important thing is that he's locked up unable to harm anyone else. Fetishizing punishment doesn't do any good for anyone. Best case scenario is the guy has a transformation of heart while in prison and realizes his wrongdoing. I wouldn't count on it, and I wouldn't let him free on it, but I think anyone can agree that would be better than the guy dying remorseless.
Yes the death penalty is much more expensive than life without parole, but cost shouldn't even be part of the discussion because once you start measuring human lives in dollars that's pretty screwed up.

It's cheaper than the cost of keeping a prisoner alive in prison for 10 years, 20 years, life, etc.
No it isn't. It is much more expensive. This has been extensively studied.

~.35 for a single .45 ACP
(Target loads will do. No sense ponying up for Hornady, etc.)

Well, I probably shouldn't go into this but here goes.
The cost of the death penalty is not in the putting somebody to death part. The cost of the death penalty is in having the lawyers and appeals system to try to make sure we don't put innocent people to death. There have been at least 19 people on death row exonerated since 2010 in the US.
The only way to make the death penalty cost less is to remove some of the procedural safeguards which attempt to ensure we don't execute people who are not guilty of the crime they were convicted for.
So either you are OK with putting to death a certain number/percentage of innocent people, or you are OK with the higher cost of the death penalty, or you think the cost is not worth it and life in prison is a more sane approach.
Actually most casual opponents of the death penalty are such due to uncertainty as to whether or not a person is guilty (they don't want to roast someone who is innocent). With video and DNA evidence as they have in this case, that is not a factor.
skipping the courts and just executing people with bullets sounds much more like Duterte than America.

I agree with this.

Interesting that I started a thread on this several weeks ago and it was deleted almost immediately...
Now that is gross and stanky.

What stereotype? Could you back that up with LEA stats? Justice department? FBI data?
