I am a 6th generation Californian. Born and raised in SF. Wonderful city. I now live on the Monterey Peninsula. I run in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, and Carmel virtually all year. I wear a t shirt about 5 times a year because the weather is 40F to 70F. We pay higher rent/home prices because all of us do not pay for air conditioning and heating. Location, location, location! The PAUSATF is the most competitive circuit in the nation. Nursing jobs at CHOMP or with the many doctors offices etc. The 5 best locations to see: Big Sur, SF, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and the Avenue of the Giants (redwoods). Other places in the US have cheaper housing because the weather is awful some of the year.
You can have great weather, earthquakes, free spirit type of places but bottom line, I rather struggle a little bit to appreciate the beauty, the sacrifice, and not everything is handed down a generation or two to live a comfortable life. In other words, earn your own way.😊
