I'm just curious - - - is there any one group or agency or organization that is monitoring the overall development of our US distance runners (post-collegiate)? For someone who is pretty much a casual fan of the sport, I'm a little confused. Do the Nike Farm people talk to the people from Hansons? What is the involvement of USATF? What about the US Olympic Committee? Who's in charge here? It seems like for a country with as much wealth and resources as we have at our disposal, not to mention great facilities for training, and the best sports medicine clinics in the world . . . we ought to be doing better at the races! Is there no-one with brains in charge? I'm not being sarcastic - just curious.
