I completely disagree. I think the real answer is simpler than self dicipline. Blue collar workers tend to have physically demanding jobs. Who would want to go out for a run after that?
White collar workers need the physical activity! Running is a good thing for letting off some steam after sitting at a desk all day.
Well, some blue collar workers have physically demanding jobs and some blue collar workers make a pretty decent living and some are extremely disciplined. I don't think "blue collar" (in the traditional sense: trades, etc.) workers represent the bottom of that scale. I suspect most of the folks at the bottom are not working physically demanding jobs and are not disciplined and in fact have a lot of free time.
