I'm completely new on this board, I've been reading it for a few weeks now as I've started to run more "seriously". I seem to be extremely slow compared to all of you according to what I am reading, so yeah basically my question is in the title. The Marathon would be at the end of October, I have a roughly 16 weeks to train.
Sub 3h may sound a bit random but I feel like I would be proud of achieving that.
Obviously I'm aware the answer is probably no, but maybe I have a small shot. Here are all the infos below that might help you to answer.
I started running more seriously about 10 weeks ago. I was fit and in shape before that, would run 5k here and there, do hill sprints sessions, some bodyweight workouts etc. Never ran more than 10k in my life.
You will probably think I'm stupid as I probably went way to fast in my progression, I ran a half marathon almost straight of the bat, then a 30K (18 miles) 10 days later, and a week after that a marathon on my own in a park.
Since then I slowed down a bit and haven't ran more than 25K (16miles), as I focused more on speedwork and intervals as I was preparing for a 5k, my first race ever basically.
Below are all my times/infos that might help you answering if a sub 3h marathon is possible for me.
Started to run "seriously" at at the end of April.
I've been running about 40 miles per week on average (always between 20 and 50)
25th of April: Half Marathon in 1h39
8th of May : 30K (18 miles) in 2h32
16th of May: Marathon in 3h47 (for the record: on my own after a work day so not an official race at all, only carrying a small bottle of water, and route was a bit hilly)
24th of May: 25k (15 miles) in 2h05
6th of June: 10k in 41:50
6th of July: 5k in 18:58 (first race)
Based on all that, do you think I have a shot at a sub 3h Marathon is 16 weeks? I know this is extremely hard but I would like your opinion before diving into hard training. I'm aware that a 4:16 pace per kilometer (or 6:50 per mile) is too fast for me now, but would that be achievable in 3+ months?
Thanks !
