OP is disingenuous. Very.
Brazier was cruising 1:47 in a National HS meet as a senior. He was sub 1:50 as a junior in HS. Murphy barely broke 1:55 in HS.
Murphy has basically one more year of real top level racing experience as he came on as a college soph, making the NCAA and USATF finals. The OP makes it seem as if Murphy is closing in on Nick Symmonds in experience.
As a Frosh Brazier crushed it indoors, got hurt, came back and ran 1:43 at the NCAAs. He simply froze at the trials where Murphy did not, and Murphy eventually medaled in Rio, which earned him the enmity of the LR crowd, a groups which is comprised mostly of gutless armchair experts with little real world talent or experience, and falsetto voiced, civil war bearded millennial cucks who fall over each other to see who can project the most obvious virtue signaling.
In the case of Murphy and Brazier, the virtue signaling begins by creating a rivalry that doesn't have any meat - yet - so to speak, and then making sure that Brazier is always presented as someone ignored, despised, not getting the credit he deserves because he's a POC and that's why I'm waving my arms overhead, so you can all see I'm taking the high road and cheering him on while wishing the worst for the horrible, mid-Western pig farmer who's dripping with pale-face privilege.
Murphy was gutsy in trying to do the double. It was a bit more than he can handle this year, and the heat made it even more so. Hopefully he's OK, but once a hammy starts bothering you, it usually needs a couple of days off.
Officials need to schedule this meet so that athletes who might want to double - for real - in the 800/1500, 1500/5k, 5k/10k can do so. It can be done, and if there's whining about the expense then lets have a close look at the USATF's budget starting with the salaries handed to the folks at the top.
Hopefully Murphy and Brazier both make the team and Murphy can be fully back on track in London.
