Flanagan raced brazenly like usual and it backfired like usual. What's with the childlike romanticism of going hard and sticking your nose in the wind sooner rather than later? Is she trying to be a hero or something? Just go out there and take care of business, Shalane. You don't have to prove you're more powerful than everyone on your way to a podium spot. You're already smarter than almost all of your competitors anyway, so stop acting like that's a weakness and use it already.
She's like a sniper that has a few too many drinks and fancies they can use a machine gun to get their job done.

What's wrong with being sexy?
Indeed!

Huh? Is your PC mantra so think now that you now demand what people comment on or are interested in? Are you insane?
She had no chance against the younger women in any form of kicker's race. She ran to her ability, that is all you can ask. She certainly fared better than Rupp.

Conley seems to be making a habit of dropping out of 10ks at national championships. That is 2 in a row. I'm not sure why she continues to insist on the 10k, when the 5k is her event. She made two olympics in the 5k.
The only time she has won the 10k is against weak fields. The time she won the national championship a few years ago, the only possible competition was a recently injured Jordan Hasay. In that case it made since for her to run the 10k, since it was a weak field, while the 5k was very deep that year.
But now she has dropped out of it 2 years in a row after being gapped by the field.
"Maybe" if she hadn't tried to run the 10k, she could have placed in the 5k. If heat was the reason, that is difficult to believe since it is her hometown and everybody else had to suffer through the same heat.
This thread is useless without pics.

Yes, you're a manly man, who enjoys the company of men.

Most of the posters here are men and men care more about men's races than women's races. Nothing sexist in that. I'm sure women care more about women's races than men's races. Again nothing sexist in that. The fact that no woman started a thread on the women's 10K only reflects the fact that 95% of the people on here are not women.
Agreed.
A women could have started a thread.
Why are men at fault for women not supporting women sports?
If women want equality don't wait for men to do it, do it yourselves.

Backfired as usual? Against US competition, Shalane was head and shoulders above the competition for quite a while. She is a marathoner now and can no longer pull this off on the track. This strategy worked very well for her for many years.

An easy solution. We employ Title 9 on this message board so everyone has EQUAL ACCESS to threads. There must be 1.5 threads on women's running for every thread on men's running. Men's running threads will be strictly limited to no more than 10 responses.
