What a time it can be for Kipchoge, to break the WR in Berlin and then break the 2 hour barrier next spring. Would be mesmerizing.

Great idea... oh hang on... they are all either in competitive projects or run with Adidas.
The bottom line is that Nike doesnt have anyone else for the job.... and it remains to be seen that EK will break the WR in "normal conditions"... methinks not....

He'll smoke the WR. 2:01:30 on a perfect day. Even if it rains or it will be too warm, he'll do a 2:02:30ish.
I hope not. It has a chance to happen only if Kipchoge breaks the world record in Berlin in Sept. That's the only thing missing from his resume. I think with the knowledge gained in the first go-round, he can do it, but they have to "turn him loose" from the pacing and let him go for it at around 37 or 38k. Should he do it, NO. A stunt like this is only good for one try.
Why don't they get a group of women together and try to break 2:10?
They will pace him until 200m to go, that's not a problem in Monza, if the WR falls in Berlin then they will make it public i think. First he has to take this pressure off his shoulders, and i think he wants to destroy Kimetto's mark. I personally think no woman under any circumstances can't break Paula's WR.

Maybe... or maybe not. It does depend on how much that wall really helped him isnt it....
Way too little. He was way too far from it to have advantaged him. The diamond-shaped formation of pacers helped much more. All in all, maximum 1 minute. Time tells, but i think i'm right.

I know you're a troll but just so you know, many other countries use the period as a number separator than a comma. The more you know.
Yeah but that's a US$. It says 2 dollars, 0.0 cents, and 0.00 hundredths of a cent.
Not enough even for a hamburger.
No way on earth Nike wants women to run faster than Rupp. Then again, it's inevitable when you're a 2:10 guy.

Rupp can be part of the pacemaking team around Kipchoge. He can do it, if he tries hard enough.
Currently a Nike event. No sub2 unless another corporate giant (ie. non running brand) puts up the money for and then you add Kimetto, Kipsang and a few other non Nike types to compete. Tadese and Desisa are good, but not the caliber of a healthy Kimetto or Kipsang. Now you have adidas vs. Nike for some kind of branding / bragging rights

Erm.....did you hear about the 2:00:25 that he ran on the first try?
I think he could beat the HM WR anytime he wants as well
The 2018 attempt team will be:
Eliud Kipchoge, Mo Farah and Jim Walmsley!
Remember you heard it here first.
Yeah, yeah, I know - Walmsley is with Hoka, not with Nike. But Farah wasn't with Nike either until they bought him over to Oregon, someone correctly judged he'd be the best sparring partner for Galen that money could buy.
If Walmsley goes sub 14 at WS100 Nike will pony up 8 figures to put him on their payroll before the summer is over.
Supposing it would happen, i can't se Mo passing the 25k mark. He would either take his own pace at about 20k or crack completely at 25k. While Walmsley, i don't think he's got the speed, he would start to feel it by 10K. No way he could hang around at 16-17K, let alone the HM mark. Mo might be picked though for publicity...
Remember, they'll probably repeat the seven month preparation period too - uncharted territory for both Farah and Walmsley. Farah might not have the heart for it, and Walmsley would be a wild card any which way you look at it. As for Walmsley and speed, a now later bloomer who still did 5K sub-14 before signing up with the military for a few years. And of course it would (again) all be for publicity. :-)
Probably a little less this time around for Kipchoge as he races Berlin, around 6 months. It will be enough for it, however, Walmsley could be one of the pacemakers. I'd rather see them throw Rupp in, not to break 2h of course, but to beat the NR.

Probably more likely that he has to be in 1:59:59 marathon shape than 57 half shape.
Bringing in the top ultra guy adds another science factor to the project. Walmsley already has the proven endurance to go for hours and hours and then more hours - they'd "only" have to train him for extra speed.
This years gang all had the speed, so they trained them for extra endurance, with "only" a 1 for 3 result.
Mix it up and it'll be even more interresting to watch next year.
