after lapping some kids in my 3k, i thought; if I were to have a track race with Galen Rupp, how long would it take him to lap me? I think that I could go 5 laps, or 6 minutes before getting lapped. 9:05 3k runner.

as many as i want if i blew him over before the race
Are we talking 400m track or 200m
400 meter track
It totally depends on the "race objective" for both runners.
If we are running a 10,000m race, Rupp would catch me in a little over 600m for me / 1,000m for him.
If I am running 10,000m, and Rupp's only goal is to lap me, he would catch me in a little over 400m / 800m.
If Rupp is running 10,000m, and my only goal is not to get lapped, he would catch me in a little over 800m / 1,200m.
If we are both running just for lap distance it gets very interesting.
I've run tens of thousands of laps and I have not once been lapped by Rupp.
If Rupp runs at his 2 mile PR pace, he'd catch me just before I started the 4th lap.
5 laps for him = 5 min
4 laps for me = 5 min
I would be dead tired and he would be laughing - Pretty wild.
Your humble bragging is much superior to your math and grammar.

Your goal is to run as far as possible without getting lapped. Rupps goal is to lap you as fast as possible. There is no set distance you are trying to go, you're just trying to survive.
That depends. Are we racing a marathon on the track?

Try to hang in for second place because if he gets disqualified for a doping violation, you might get the win even after being lapped.
Rupp would lap me not far past the start of #3.
If we were both in good form, I could have held him off for 8, maybe 9 laps. Now on a good day I might be able to make it 3 laps, 4 no way.
For me, I would make it 7 laps. I would be exactly at the 2800 meter mark when Rupp passed me.

+1
Typical arrogance
if Rupp is running his 5k PR and I am running a 10k, he will not lap me. My 10k PR is faster than his 5k PR pace. My time didn't count for a WR because I ran it on a track in the middle of a forest all by myself.
